Batfish Memorial Foundation

The Batfish Memorial Foundation The Batfish Memorial Foundation was established to provide a means to ensure the USS Batfish was preserved as a memorial for all those Oklahomans who served, and continue to serve, to protect the freedoms of the United States. The BMF is a 501(c)3 organization with all donations being tax deductable.

Deck Replacement ongoing this winter The deck work continues at a steady pace. They have replaced the deck and are currently fixing trouble spots. The entire boat is looking better with the new deck installed. This was and is a very labor intensive project. They need volunteers to come out and help with finishing the deck.. Contact Rick at the museum or shoot Mark an email at ussbatfish@yahoo.com for more info. The Foundation will be suppling the needed hardware and any special tools. Our next step is to get the funds needed to sand blast and repaint the boat. Remember Lost Boats!

Boat tested for lead paint
The boat has been tested for lead paint. The repainting company selected will have a good idea of what areas will require special precautions when sand blasting. The presents of lead paint makes the paint removal a more expensive endeavor.

Henry Primeaux to help raise funds
Henry Primeaux, Bristow and Tulsa businessman and submariner will be helping raise funds to paint the boat. He served on the USS Batfish in New Orleans when she was returned to service. Please watch this clip: http://www.newson6.com/Global/story.asp?S=10861455

Capital Funds Drives
The Batfish Memorial Foundation is in the formative stages of kicking off out "Paint the Gray Lady" capital funds drives for 2011 - 2012. This drive will be to collect funds for the sand blasting and painting of the USS Batfish. This will be a costly endevor, but is needed to be accomplished as soon as posssible. Sand blasting and painting are very involved and will require the use of a professional company along with many volunteer hours.

USS Batfish Memorial
The USS Batfish SS-310 Memorial is open all year: March 15th thru October 15th. DAYS & HOURS OF OPERATION: Wednesday thru Saturday 10 am to 6 pm Sunday 1 pm to 6 pm. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. October 16th thru March 14th. DAYS & HOURS OF OPERATION: Thursday thru Saturday 9 am to 5 pm Sunday 12 Noon to 5 pm. Closed Monday through Wednesday. COSTS: Adults $5.00 Group Rates Available. Children: $2.00 and Seniors $3.00 Adult Group $4.00 each, Children Group (10 or more) $1.00 each. Children under age 6 are free -except in a Group.
