The Batfish Memorial Foundation   The Foundation was established to raise funds to provide for the maintenance and preservation of the USS Batfish (SS-310) Memorial for future generations and remembrance of all those Oklahomans who have served in the military of the United States. Those wishing to donate may send thier tax deductable contributions to the address below.

Deck Replacement Starting this fall  The new deck wood started to be replaced. The museum manager has been coordinating volunteers to start the deck replacement. The old fir has fallen apart and will be replaced with Brazilian Purple Heart, a wood very much like teak. It is grown in commercial forest and does not deplete the natural wood of Brazil. It ages to a brown color - and will look like the orginial teak. The Foundation will be suppling the needed hardware and any special tools. Our next step is to get the funds needed to paint the boat. Remember Lost Boats!

Change of Address
The Batfish Memorial Foundation will have a temporay change of address. The building that houses the BMF is for sale and we will looking for a new spot to reside.
  Torpedo Update
The BMF is coordinating with the park manager on shipping two torpedos (Mk 27 and Mk 16) from Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport Washington. Shipping chocks are being purchased from a company near Tacoma. Details on the trucking company are being worked out.

Capital Funds Drives
The Batfish Memorial Foundation is in the formative stages of kicking off out "Paint the Gray Lady" capital funds drives for 2007 - 2008. This drive will be to collect funds for the sand blasting and painting of the USS Batfish. This will be a costly endevor, but is needed to be accomplished as soon as posssible. Sand blasting and painting are very involved and will require the use of a professional company along with many volunteer hours.
