OFFICIAL CALL TO THE GFWC SOUTH CENTRAL REGION CONFERENCE

VOLUNTEERS SHAPING THE PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE

OCTOBER 22-24, 2010

SHERATON ALBUQUERQUE UPTOWN HOTEL

The members of the SCR Executive Committee and GFWC New Mexico join me in extending a warm invitation to YOU to come and join us at this exciting and fun Region Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. You will enjoy a unique cultural event in this Land of Enchantment.

The enclosed information sheets have all the information you need to know about the tour, how to make your hotel reservations, shuttle service, registration (Thurs.-Sat.), meal selections, and events for the Boosters.

The SCR Board of Directors (comprised of the elected officers, the State Presidents, State Directors of Jr. Clubs, chairmen of Standing and Special Committees and past SCR Presidents) will have a breakfast meeting Friday morning from 8-9 a.m. and will be ready to go on the tour by 9:15. Plan to wear your GFWC emblematic clothing and comfortable shoes for this event.

A special Membership Workshop for members who are “new” (1-3 yrs. in Federation) will be held following the tour on Friday from 4-5 p.m.

6-6:45 – Gathering and Greeting (Social Time) – Suggested dress is cocktail attire with turquoise jewelry

6:45 - Processional Formation – GFWC, SCR, NM Officers, NM Past Presidents, State Director of Jr. Clubs & Conference Chairs.

7:00 p.m. New Mexico State Night Banquet with very, very special entertainment.

The dress for Saturday is business casual-wear RED-You are the Heart of GFWC

Saturday Group Work Sessions 7:30-8:45 a.m. - 2012-2014 GFWC Region President, State Presidents, and State Directors of Junior club will meet with GFWC President-elect, Mary Ellen Laister. 7:45-8:45 a.m. - 2010-2012 GFWC Board of Directors Members will meet with GFWC International President, Carlene Garner. 7:45-8:45 a.m. Membership Workshop – “Strengthening Our Clubs” will also be held for everyone else.

9:00 – 10:30 a.m - Opening Business Session Election of Nominating Committee Proposed Amendment to Standing Rules*

10:45 – Noon - Platform Workshops The New Community Service Programs How to Plan a Great Club Project Leading GFWC with Pride and Purpose

12-12:30 - Break to participate in Fundraising

12:30-2:00 – Luncheon featuring the GFWC Signature Project 2:15-3:50 - Back to the Business Meeting with Reports from the following GFWC Chairmen or GFWC Committee Members from SCR LEADS, GFWC Mediators, Using your GFWC Club Manual, Fundraising, Junior’s Special Project

4:00-4:45 – Workshops Presiding with Purpose – GFWC International President, Carlene Garner(Intended for Club and District Presidents) Reporting with Resolve: Writing a Winning Club Report–GFWC President-elect, Mary Ellen Laister A Leadership Legacy: Creating Strong GFWC Clubs–GFWC Leadership Committee Member, Jan Bailey Effective Communication Tips–GFWC Communication Committee Member, Marianne Maynard

6:00-6:45 Gathering & Greeting (Social Time) – Suggested Attire - Formal

6:45 – Processional Formation – GFWC, SCR, NM Officers, NM Past Presidents, State Directors of Jr. Clubs and Conference Chairs. 7:00 p.m. – Banquet – Speaker – GFWC International President, Carlene Garner

Reports from State Presidents and State Directors of Junior Clubs ATTENTION: Please limit your reports to 5 minutes each and bring two copies, one for me and one for the Region Secretary. Include in your report what you have done in and for membership.
