MOMSense: Bold, Loving, Sensible The MOPS International theme equips moms to embrace their mothering instincts and develop their own parenting style while navigating through the myriad of daily mom decisions.

Developing a mothering strategy is somewhat like playing a game—and this year’s theme is appropriately game related. Have fun being a mom! Playing games involves being bold and taking risks, loving those in the game with us and being sensible while figuring out what works and what doesn’t. Just as in real-life, sometimes in games, unexpected, “chance” events occur, abruptly changing our paths. We must regroup and determine our next steps. Teaming together with other moms is a great strategy. And, most of all, developing a strong God-Sense is essential for mothering.

Combining her mom intuition and her common sense helps a woman discover her own unique MomSense.
Mom Intuition + Common Sense = MomSense.

“God doesn’t want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold, loving, and sensible.” 2 Timothy 1:7

What is MOPS?
MOPS stands for Mother of Preschoolers, an International faith based organization that exists to encourage mothers with children under age 6.

It is not a bible study, but a group of moms who understand the struggles of motherhood. It is a place where moms can gather to revive and learn how to be the best moms they can be through motivational speakers, crafts, food, and fun! It's a time to make new friends, share experiences, laugh together, and learn biblical principles pertaining to womanhood, marriage and parenting.

 When and Where?
Meetings are held on the 1st Wednesday of the month from 10am-noon, and the 3rd Thursday from 6:30pm-8:30pm (September - May) at Church of the Shepherd (COS) located at 1600 W. 13th St. in Grove.
*All mothers are welcome regardless of religious affiliation.

What's a typical meeting like?
We enjoy a meal and fellowship together, followed by a short devotional and prayer time provided by one of our "seasoned" Mentor Moms. Each month a new speaker/presenter will come to the meetings to discuss topics that are helpful to mothers with young children, topics relating to womanhood, marriage, child rearing and relationships within the family. Small group discussions provide for honest sharing, deepening friendships and spiritual enrichment. As time allows, we end the meeting with a fun and creative craft to take home.
 Where are my children?
Quality childcare is provided by loving and nurturing caregivers through the MOPPETS program, and the cost is covered in your annual membership fee. The children are divided into age appropriate classes and experience God's love through planned activities such as games, stories, crafts, music and physical play. Nursing infants are welcome to remain with mom or go to the nursery at any time.

What does it cost?
The annual membership fee to MOPS of Grove is $55, which helps cover the cost of childcare, speakers, crafts, supplies, and decorations. This also covers your MOPS International Membership ($23.95) which provides the following benefits: one year subscription to MomSense Magazine, weekly Mom-E-Mail, MOPS logoes reusable shopping Bag, iron on appliqués and stickers featuring VeggieTales. Other great resources and discounted items are available through MOPShop.org.

*Scholarships are available for moms who would not be able to attend MOPS due to financial restraints. Please contact mopsofgrove@gmail.com for more information.
