A Message From Queen and Empress

Our first "official" event or initiation gathering was held the 15th of January 2005. During 2005, our membership has grown at a steady pace with new members contacting us regularly. We are now at the peak of sassiness, spirited spark and of a size (number wise) that we felt it was necessary to close our membership. Our outings and gatherings, especially our day or overnight trips, are allowing us to get to know each and every strong, remarkable member and we are proud to call them sisters. Our Bevy of Beauties are truly exceptional.

We are, however, always open to join with other chapters for gatherings or outings and welcome out of town visitors to join in our chapter gatherings when they are visiting the Tulsa area.

"A woman in harmony with her spirit is like a river flowing. She goes where she will
without pretense and arrives at her destination prepared to be herself and only herself."
~Maya Angelou~

CHAPTER POEM

A Bevy of Sassy Scarlet Scrappers
Way back in the18th century...reserved
Keeping scrapbooks was quite the rage
The Victorian Era collected,
decorated & preserved
Now “A Bevy of Sassy Scarlet Scrappers”
take front page.

Scrappers to their heart and core
Making memories with this new sisterhood
Wearing purple & red,
who could ask for more?
Replaying games & antics
from their childhood.

A scrapbook page needs embellishment
As does a Red Hatter’s regalia fine
Buttons on pages or hats, an accouterment
Aging gracefully like vintage wine.

Queen Shutterbug
keeps the camera clicking
Empress of Embellishments
places objects artistically
The Red Hat line dance
keeps Scrappers kicking
Fun had out on a purple & red
shopping spree.

Sassy Scarlet Scrappers are
embossing their fun
Like a scrapbook preserving
their espri de corps
By laughing, giggling while on the run
This Bevy is out, new things to explore.

Take the meaning from their
bodacious name
They’re bold red winners of the Society
Creating new memories to give them fame
Having fun, causing notoriety.

A special thanks to Barbara, Queen RazZ;

Ruby Redhat’s Top Ten Rules for Living… plus one!

  1. Accept reality and live in the here and now.
Don’t be bothered with “what-ifs” or regrets~ they interfere with fun!
  2. Accentuate the positive.
Always choose to find the good in any situation you face. Develop your laugh lines rather than frown lines.
  3. Nurture yourself.
Listen to yourself and provide for your own needs. When you need a break, take one!
  4. Indulge your sense of humor.
Heartily appreciate the value of laughter.
  5. Play!
Either never grow up all the way or regress. In either event, know how to have a great time!
  6. Dress up!
Embellish whatever you wear with glitz, glitter, and glam!
  7. Cultivate an openness to new things.
Be willing to try almost anything.
  8. Express your creativity.
    Think “outside the hatbox.”
  9. Exercise compassion.
Learn to laugh with others and to cry with others.
  10. Have courage!
Know you are up to the challenge of whatever may come.
+ + + Make up for the sobriety of your youth! Many of us were dutiful in our younger years, and now we have a lot of “quirky stuff” that needs to be done! ~Remember, life is a daring adventure… let it begin again at 40 or 140!~

~ WARNING ~

When I am an old woman
I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go
and doesn't suit me.

The ending of the poem pleases its readers when the woman says . . .(see link to this poem under "LINKS"

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too
shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and
start to wear purple.
