News Well I got back in from Texas last night and brought home some pretty nice hardware. LuciFur took 2nd in the 50yd sprint race with a time of 4.63 sec. I could have goten a better time had I ran further past the finish line, got beat by a shepherd by .04sec. Luci took 1st in the intermediate Protection Tournament, 1st in the Hardest Hitting, and 3rd in the Advance protection Tournament, wish I could have gotten 1st on that one but oh well she is only 19 months old or so. She also got her GDT and Iron Dog 3 titles. So I am pretty proud of her I know what I need to work on and she will be a totally different dog next time out. PSA is a sport with a lot of environmental and decoy pressure. The dog must have enough drive to overcome distractions while at the same time having a clear head to follow commands from its handler. A high level of control on the dog is a must at high level competition. There are very few routines but many surprise scenarios. If you are up to the challenge, come and join us and compete in PSA.
Mondioring, like most protection sports has a series of exercises to be executed by the dog/handler team in the categories of obedience, agility (jumps) and protection. At the Mondioring III level, there are a total of 17 exercises, completed without interruption, and lasting approximately 45 minutes.
