PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I am, indeed, privileged to be your President for this upcoming and very important year for our state and country. Our goals this year are to emphasize growth in our membership, education of the issues and candidates for this election year. In that regard, we ladies with our depth of knowledge and experience can add much value and help in our communities. We will seek out speakers that will enhance our understanding, provide source information and assistance. I welcome and encourage all to share your ideas, experiences and participate in our club’s and other GOP activities.

I wish to express my sincere appreciation to Sue Springer for her service as President for the past three years and her generous help to me in transitioning into my new responsibilities.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

Representative Linda Flores installed our new officers at the December Christmas meeting and party. Members and guests all enjoyed the camaraderie, spirit of the season and lovely décor of the Claremont County Club. Our gifts of children’s books were donated to Col. Howard’s Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In January, Kevin Hoar, Chairman of the Washington County Republicans gave a very interesting talk about the upcoming election and the Party’s grass roots efforts.

OFRW DISTRICT 1 MEETING

District 1 has been reconfigured to include North Coast Republican Women, Republican Women of Downtown Portland and BWSRW. King City-Tigard Republican Women have been transferred to District II. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

My sincere thanks to so many of you that gave your time and energy, tirelessly volunteering for our candidates and ballot measures this election cycle. Many of you gave countless hours knocking on doors, manning the phones and helping with many of the back office duties. Your work is well appreciated and not forgotten.

The election is over, the results are in and it isn’t pretty. We took a big shellacking for which there are a number of reasons. Our message did not get out and we were painted with a broad brush as the party out of touch with the public. It’s time we take stock of the situation, analyze where we went wrong, how we can reform our party and gain back our reputation of the party for the people, of limited government, fiscal and individual responsibility.

We ladies can do much to make our voices heard and actively participate in this effort. In the weeks to come, we will be analyzing our problems and developing a program to affect reforms and change our image. In this regard, our club will continue to provide meaningful information, education and plans to our membership.

I welcome and encourage all to provide input, discussion and ideas. Our party needs your help. Together, we can return Republicans to public office and the recognition we have enjoyed and deserve.

I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year. May the blessings of the season be yours now and in the future.
