Benton County Republican Women welcome women from all age groups and walks of life as key players at the political table on national, state and local issues. BCRW are members of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) and the State Federation of Republican Women (OFRW). We are a part of America’s foremost political organization bringing women together to positively impact the direction of our nation.
We come together as a collective force advancing the power of women through political access and participation.
The BCRW are active throughout the community using “Caring For America” and “No Child Left Behind” initiatives of the National Federation as inspiration and guidelines. As a result, BCRW are currently involved with the “Dictionary Project”. We are in our 7th year of presentations. The number of 4th grade students that BCRW have served is close to 8,000. These dictionaries also stress American citizenship by including a copy of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Stella Guenther is heading this program and the development of a Constitution Center which is now in progress.
BCRW assist young women who need a fresh start in life and in their careers by donating neat, clean business type clothing to the Career Closet where women needing work clothes can find a free wardrobe. Our members also gather a wide variety of items for boxes, which are shipped to our fighting troops overseas. Kay Hunnemuller is in charge of this project. BCRW also supports Operation Homefront. Operation Homefront is a national organization that was set up for the task of helping the families at home state side, but nothing stops them from also providing for our military. Operation Homefront's Oregon President, Dale Clark, is an ever present member of our weekly rallies at 9th & Circle. Our motto is "Land of the Free because of the Brave."
The local chapter of BCRW contribute to three national scholarships for young women. The Betty Rendel Scholarship, The Dorothy Kabis Memorial Internship, and The Nancy Reagan Pathfinder Scholarship. Benton County Republican Women are very active in the OFRW 100% Club Essay Scholarship program. This program is unique to the state of Oregon. Those participating must be senior high school women. The theme for the essay is, "The Constitution-19th Amendment: The History of Women's Suffrage." We are in the seventh year of this program and for the last two years Benton County students have been the recipients of the $1000.00 scholarship prize.
Our monthly luncheon meeting is held the fourth Monday of each month. The group meets at 11:30 a.m. at Salbasgeon Suites, 1730 NW 9th Street in Corvallis. Guests are always welcome to hear current speakers on political issues.
Please contact me with any questions you might have.

Back to Basics for the Republican Party
Michael Zak is the author of Back to Basics for the Republican Party, the acclaimed history of the GOP from the civil rights perspective. From the first page of the book: "As you know, Democrats control most of the media, but they also write most of the history books, thereby controlling what even Republican activists think they know about our Party's glorious heritage."

Mr. Zak claims that Republicans squander political capital each time an anniversary of an important civil rights achievement goes by uncelebrated. Why is this? It is because the Republican Party has been the vanguard for the advancement of civil rights in America yet, over time, Republican's have let the Democrats define their party. Isn't it time that we rediscover our past so we, not they, can confidently and proudly define ourselves as we get back to basics?
Back to Basics for the Republican Party is available through the Benton County Republican Women for $20. Pick up your copy at Republican Headquarters, 980 NW Circle Blvd. (behind Citizens Bank) in Corvallis or through your favorite bookseller.

Set Up & Sold Out
According to author, Holly Swanson, there is a tremendous amount of good that can result from the universal awareness of environmental issues and Americans should take continuous positive steps toward environmental excellence but she cautions, that Americans not allow themselves to be set up to be sold out by a radically oppressive, ideologically and politically motivated assortment of groups she refers to as “Greens”. She writes,
"The Greens are advancing their political plans disguised as progressive solutions to environmental protection. Greens plan to use fear of environmental doom to pass laws that will: control individual opportunities and actions; control business and; end private property rights."
"The Green plan calls for a complete social transformation that will erase our culture. The issue is, do we need to change everything about America to protect the environment for future generations?" Ms. Swanson reminds her readers of Aristotle's words: "All who have meditated on the art of governing mankind are convinced that the fate of empires depends on the education of youth." She then describes how radical green politics has become entrenched in America's school curiculum.
Set Up & Sold Out is available through the Benton County Republican Women for $20. Pick up your copy at Republican Headquarters, 980 NW Circle Blvd. (behind Citizens Bank) in Corvallis or through your favorite bookseller.
Do Green goals defy the U.S. Constitution? The author recommends these websites for further study:

- I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
- I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
- I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
- I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations and that the best government is that which governs least.

- I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
- I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
- I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
- FINALLY, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government.

Senator Frank Morse Comments on the 2009 Legislative Session and the Budget
Download Sen. Morse's June report on the budget HERE (pdf).
HR 1207: "Audit the Fed!" Good news! This bill is getting traction!!!
From Lyn Riverstone: Linked is a PDF "Fact Sheet" for HR 1207, the bill to audit the Federal Reserve. I think this is really good information. Download the fact sheet provided by Campaign for Liberty HERE. FYI: The Federal Reserve (private bankers) appears to be worried about this bill and has hired the lobbyist who formerly represented Enron.
Benton County: Jackson presents positive budget changes at hearing
Jerry J. Jackson, Sr., (Republican) is currently a member of the Philomath City Council and has announced his candidacy for the 2010 race for Benton County Commissioner, position 1.
BUDGET REVIEW
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 20, 2009
By Jerry J. Jackson, Sr.
The linked information (pdf) was presented by me during the public comment time at the Benton County Budget Hearing on May 18, 2009. It is my hope the Commissioners will follow up on my presentation, as it reflects positive changes they need to make in order to prevent future financial problems.
I find it interesting that the county is relying on renewing levies to operate the county in the future. It is time to become lean and move to a basic budget now. The commissioners are trying to make Benton County responsible for everything from Linn County Health Clinics to the Federal Wildlife's regulatory position on endangered species. When you have to borrow money to operate, you must look at what you are doing wrong.Consolidating and cutting unnecessary positions are the first steps in creating a balanced budget.
Hewlett Packard is offering to lease the county office space on their campus. The lease will include janitorial service, building maintenance, furniture, ample parking, and bus service from Albany and Corvallis, and more. With a full service lease, it will be easy for commissioners to account to the tax payers how their funds are being spent.
The plan to build downtown is not fiscally responsible and needs to be cut out of the commissioners' plans. Moving to the H-P campus is the right move at this time. The county is presently leasing considerable office space, and their leases expire in 2010. Please encourage Benton County Commissioners to begin immediately to negotiate a new lease that brings Benton County offices all under one roof.
Please email the Board of Commissioners at bocinfo@co.benton.or.us to support this consolidation recommendation.
A MUST READ FOR ALL REPUBLICANS
Race and Republicans From William Lloyd Garrison to Trent Lott.
This 1999 article by Alvin S. Felzenberg describes how the stellar history of the Republican Partys' committment to civil rights has been lost over time through factual omissions by liberal historians. Posted at Weekly Standard, December 17, 2002.
