API is a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to promote parenting methods that create strong, healthy, emotional bonds between children and their parents.
API offers local support for families who practice attachment parenting or who wish to learn more about this empathic style of parenting.
Through research and eduction, API is ultimately helping to reduce and prevent child abuse, behavioral disorders, and other serious social problems.
We welcome you to join our online discussions! You will find the support and encouragement you are looking for in between the monthly meetings.

The online group also contains a database listing available materials in our resource library and sling library, as well as a calendar of events, meetings and playgroups.

New Changes at API!
Over the last year, API has been going through some updates and revisions. The organization's mission remains the same: support and encourage families in their quest for connective, nurturing parenting. But on March 31st, they launched a few new programs that will help even more families get AP connection and support.
One major change is their revised and updated website. The website has a new look, and now includes a national online discussion forum. It is quite extensive and will be able to connect a lot of people for discussions on AP topics.
The other new "event", is the beginning of an AP Parent Education Program. Soon, classes will be offered to teach families about Attachment Parenting and how to incorporate the philosophy and techniques into their parenting. Classes in the Portland area are planned to begin in the fall of 2008!
