Sesquicentennial2.jpgWelcome to Blair County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.†††††††††

Our membership of 585 is made up of school retirees from the following school districts: Altoona Area, Bellwood-Antis, Claysburg-Kimmel, Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center, Hollidaysburg Area, Spring Cove, Tyrone Area, Williamsburg and Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8.

We are former teachers, administrators, counselors, nurses, aides, secretaries, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, maintenance staff ó in short, anyone who is now receiving a pension from the Pennsylvania School Employees Retirement System.

Message from the President:

The mission of PASR Blair County is simple. We try to give back to the community by engaging in various activities. To help PASR celebrate its 80th birthday, our chapter will be supplying the Altoona Food Bank with items monthly that are needed. We will continue volunteering for the Mt. Lion Backpack Program, Easter Seals, Salvation Army, and wrapping Christmas gifts at the Logan Valley Mall. We also purchase Christmas gifts for specific veterans at the Veteran's Home and Homewood residents. We have individual members who work at Contact Altoona, adult literacy programs, and recently the teen shelter. Representatives of these organizations have visited us to ask for volunteers; and being the kind, giving people PASR members are, many have stepped up to do the training and become volunteers for these groups. We hope those of you who haven't come to one of our monthly meetings will come and join us the first Tuesday of the month at Marzoni's in Duncansville at 11:30 a.m. We hope to see you there!
