CHESTER HISTORICAL PRESERVATION COMMITTEE
Welcome to our web page. We have been working as a Historical Society for over 20 years. Please browse our site for upcoming events, items for sale and current projects we are involved in around Chester. To the left is a picture of our book which was released in December of 2004. The book is 128 pages with over 200 pictures. In the book we have images of Chester's past which include stores, schools, churches, people, sports, and industries that made Chester a hub of Delaware County for more than 200 years. While doing the book we realized how much Chester has lost of it's historic past and how we need to focus on saving and restoring the 100+ sites Chester still has left for our children and our City. We are seeing a rebirth in Chester with the racetrack and the redevelopment at the old electric plant which is bringing in investment speculators who are buying up property at record prices. We need to ensure that the developers respect Chester's past while positioning our future. We know that not every building can be saved but if we can protect just 1% that would be over 100 sites.

HERITAGE COMMITEE AWARD

The book "CHESTER" written by the Historical Committee recieved the HERTIAGE AWARD on May 2nd. These awards were given for special projects in Delaware County that preserve our history. A link has been added to the website, this will take you to the Heritage's Committee's website, where you can view all who earned a place in this years awards.
