PACK 92 WINTER EVENTS - 2009
Battleship New Jersey Sleepover
It was an awesome night on the Big “J”. Our scouts boarded the battleship and got their gear squared away in their racks. We had evening colors followed by dinner. We then had a special two hour tour of the ship. We got to see inside one of the turrets; the weapons control room, the Captain’s quarters, and many other places not on the regular tours. Our tour guides provided great insight into the history and operation of the New Jersey. In the morning we participated in morning colors and had breakfast. Afterwards we could take a self guided tour of the ship and see areas such as the Brig, and the Laundry. During our stay many of the scouts and their families got to ride the flight simulator.
Scout Sunday
We had a very good turnout for the Scout Sunday Service at Drexel Hill United Methodist Church. It was great to see our scouts, the Boy Scouts from Troop 32, and Venturing Crew 32 showing that a Scout is Reverent.
Pinewood Derby
We had a super Pinewood Derby this year. Eighteen Scouts participated in one of the best races in recent memory. Congratulations to our winners. A special thanks to our hosts, the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield.

Tigers Go-See at Garrettford-Drexel Hill Fire House
The Tiger Cubs visited Garrettford-Drexel Hill Fire House. They saw the fire trucks and equipment up close and got a chance to talk to the firemen.
Webelos Sharks Visit Boy Scout Troop 32 Troop Meeting
Our Webelos Sharks visited a troop meeting at Boy Scout Troop 32. They participated in the presentation of the colors. They meet with a patrol and helped them with planning their menu for the Boy Scouts upcoming camping trip to Camp Rodney in Maryland. This event counted toward their Arrow of Light.
John Morton Winter Survival – Webelos Sharks
Our Webelos Sharks visited the John Morton Winter Survival in Essington as the guest of Troop 32. The Sharks saw how a Boy Scout camp is set-up and got to interact with the boys from Troop 32. They also participated in the various events. They treated an injured person and carried them out of the woods, practiced knot tying, building a fire, compass orientating, and ran an obstacle course. This event counted toward their Arrow of Light.

Major League Baseball Card Clubhouse Event at BC Sports
We learned about baseball trading cards. We found out about the history, the different type of cards, and some games to play with them. We also learned about how to store and care for our card collections. Each scout was provided with several packs of cards and storage packets. Each scout earned their Collecting Belt Loop and Collecting Academic Pin.
Mummers Fest
We had a great tour of the behind the scenes of the Fancy Brigades. We got to see how their scenery is constructed and learned about the history of the Fancy Brigades. We rode some amusement rides, dressed up as Mummers, and made New Years masks and hats. Then we got to see all 11 Fancy Brigades perform their routines as part of a sneak peek.
Pack Holiday Party
We had some great holiday cheer at our pack holiday party. We made ornaments and decorated our new pack Christmas tree. There were games, pizza, and presents. We welcomed a couple of new Bobcats to the pack and celebrated all of our awards. We topped the night off with some awesome Pollyanna gifts.
Grocery Store Visit
Giant Food Market, Aston, PA
We got a behind the scenes tour of a supermarket. We visited the deli, the meat packing room, and the freezer. Thanks to Giant for all the goodies and the pizza!
Holiday Mail for Heroes
Good Turn for America Project
On December 3rd all of our dens made Christmas cards for our soldiers and their families. The cards will be sent to the Red Cross for their Holiday Mail for Heroes program.
Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade
Pack 92 had several boys march in the annual parade up the Parkway.
Ashland Nature Center Overnight
We had an awesome time on the first pack overnighter of the scouting year. The scouts learned about the Lenape Indians. We got to play some their games and try on some of their clothing. There was a night hike and a nature hike in the morning. We saw a terrapin and a tortoise. We roast marshmallows and made popcorn over the fireplace fire.
Scouting for Food
We had a great turn out for Scouting for Food. We collected 310 items for the Upper Darby Food Bank.
Cub Scout Fitness Day
Our pack was well represented at the Fitness Day. The scouts did various activities and events such as sit-ups, football toss, obstacle course, and running long jump.
Visit to the Haverford Free Library
The scouts had a tour of the Haverford Free Library. They learned how books were categorized and how to search for them on the computer. They went on a library scavenger hunt.
Cradle of Birding Festival at John Heinz Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum and Birding for Kids Workshop
Our scouts toured the Visitor Center and its may exhibitors, and hand-ons displays. They talked with people from different rescue groups. They learned about fish regulations from the PA Fish and Boat Commission. They made their own fly fishing lures and saw a show from the Philadelphia Zoo. We also meet some old friends from the Delco Bird Club. We went on a hike through the refuge and saw many different birds, turtles, frogs, and fish.
Welcome Back Night
We had a fun night welcoming back our scouts. They got together and a fun night of Bingo while their parents got information on the coming Scouting Year.
9-11 Remembrance Day Ceremony
Seven scouts and their families participated in the remembrance ceremony at Marple Veterans Memorial Park. They were joined by over a hundred scouts from the surrounding community, color guards from local police and a Marine Corp League Honor Guard.
PACK 92 SUMMER EVENTS - 2008
S’more Summer Fun and Games
We had a great evening outside. We did sidewalk chalk art in the parking lot to begin the fun. We sung a few songs, and told a couple of jokes. We played a couple of games. To top the evening off we made s’mores!
Fruit Picking at Linvilla Orchard
Pack 92 had a super day with bright blue sky to go out to the farm and pick some produce. We picked peaches, apples, eggplant, peppers, and mutant size tomatoes.
Pack 92 at Cub World
Pack 92 was well represented at Cub World. Our families had a great time camping, swimming, making stuff, and of course getting muddy.
Cub World Family Day
Several families spent the day at Camp Garrison having a great time journeying through time and helping to solve the mystery of Dr. Lizardo.
Drexel Park 4th of July Parade
We had a great time marching in the Drexel park parade along with the Marine Corp League of Upper Darby, fire trucks, and police. After the parade there were fire truck rides, a moonbounce, hot dogs, pretzels, and drinks. Thanks to the Drexel Park Homeowners Association for having us march.
Marbles and New Tiger Night
We had a super time learning how to play marbles and playing several games of Rounder. Three new Tiger Cubs joined our pack also.
Camp Garrison Camping Trip
A great time was had at Fort Akela despite the heat. Friday night the scouts made First Aid Kits, and Trail Mix. Each den made their own patrol flags. We enjoyed s’mores around the campfire. The Webelos Sharks all pitched and slept in tents under the stars.
On Saturday after a hearty breakfast, the scouts went on a nature hike. They saw frogs, various bugs and spiders. They followed deer tracks and spotted many species of birds. The scouts worked on Leave No Trace posters, and participated in game stations. After lunch they went fishing. Upon returning from fishing the annual Pack Water Gun Fight was staged. Scouts, siblings, and parents all had a great time getting wet and cooling off from the 95+ degree temperatures. Before dinner a game of Frisbee football was played. We then sang songs, yelled cheers, and listened to stories around the campfire. The parents got involved and performed an outstanding rendition of If I Weren’t a Boy Scout
Sunday we had a light breakfast and broke camp.
The Leaders of Pack 92 would like to thank all the parents who came along on the trip. Everyone stepped and helped make this the greatest camping trip.
