 ENDERS-FISHERVILLE FIRE PREVENTION
On Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 members loaded up all four trucks and headed over to the Enders-Fisherville Elementary School to teach fire prevention to the Kindergarten and First Grade classes. Chief Raymond Urich, Jr., and Fire Police Captain Jean Bower talked to the kids about various topics regarding fire safety. The kids also got to meet our new mascot, Bowser the Dalmatian. The kids then got a chance to look at the fire trucks and to ask questions.

PRE-SCHOOL FIRE PREVENTION
On Thursday, October 1st, 2009 the pre-school from the Messiah Lutheran Church came up to the fire hall for fire prevention. Chief Raymond Urich, Jr., talked to the kids about the importance of an escape plan and what to do in case of an emergency. The kids then got a chance to look at the fire trucks and to ask questions.

2ND ANNUAL FAMILY FUN DAY
On Sunday, September 27th, 2009 we held our 2nd Annual Family Fun Day on the fire company grounds. We would like to thank the Millersburg Fire Company for the use of thier smoke trailer and David Warfel with the Forestry Department, and DJ Dave for providing the music for the day. We would also like to thank everyone that came out and supported us by buy chicken from our chicken bbq.
SQUAD MAKES TRIP TO WILDWOOD NEW JERSEY
From Thursday, September 17th, 2009 to Sunday, September 20th, 2009, members went on their annual vacation to Wildwood, NJ for the New Jersey State Firemen's Convention. This year was a little different with Swab Wagon Company having a spot at the fire expo on Friday and Saturday. Swab's asked us if we would take Squad 216 down and we agreeded. Squad 216 was show cased both days at the fire expo along side many other fire apparatus from various other apparatus builders. While the Squad was down there we decided to enter it in the parade that was held Saturday afternoon. After the Squad got back from the fire expo, final touch ups were done to it and the Squad went off to line up. The Squad got to go through final judging, but alas did not win an award. However, the Squad was presented with a participation plaque. Everyone had a good time this year with the Squad being down in Wildwood.

THANKS FOR COMING TO BOYD'S BEAR BINGO
On Sunday, August 30th, 2009, we held a Boyd's Bear Bingo at the fire hall. We hope everyone had a good time and enjoyed the food from our new concession trailer. The officers and members of the Fisherville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 wishes to thank everyone that continues to support the fire company.
CREWS HOSE MARCHING BAND DOWN
On Friday, August 21st, 2009, members loaded up the Engine and headed over to the Enders-Fisherville Elementary School around 16:00 hours to hose the Halifax Wildcat Marching Band down to help them cool off after practice.

THANKS FOR STOPPING AT CHICKEN BBQ
On Sunday, August 9th, 2009, we held a chicken bbq at the fire station. We hope everyone liked our new menu item for the dinners, with the French Fries. The Officers and Members of the Fisherville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 would like to thank everyone who bought chicken and for supporting your local fire company.
HALIFAX FIREMEN'S CARNIVAL, NIGHT 4
On Saturday, August 8th, 2009, members headed into the Halifax Borough Park one more time for Night 4 of the 39th Annual Halifax Firemen's Carnival. Despite the light rain in the beginning of the evening and the rain at the end of the evening, there was 2 to 3 hours of nice weather during the night. The Officers and Members of the Fisherville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 wish to thank everyone who stopped at both of our stands during the 4 nights of the carnival and we will see you next year.
HALIFAX FIREMEN'S CARNIVAL, NIGHT 3
On Friday, August 7th, 2009, members once again headed into the Halifax Borough Park for Night 3 of the 39th Annual Halifax Firemen's Carnival. The Candy Wheel and Four Wheeler Tickets were in full swing. Again thank you to everyone who stopped at both stands and we hope to see you Saturday night for one last time.
TANKER AND SQUAD WIN TROPHIES ON NIGHT 2 OF HALIFAX CARNIVAL
On Thursday, August 6th, 2009, members loaded up all 4 trucks and headed into Halifax for the 39th Annual Halifax Firemen's Carnival Parade. The Tanker and Squad took 1st Place. The Candy Wheel and Four Wheeler Ticket stands were up and running all night again. Once again we thank everyone that stopped at both stands and hope to see you Friday night.

HALIFAX FIREMEN'S CARNIVAL, NIGHT 1
On Wednesday, August 5th, 2009, members headed into the Halifax Borough Park for the 39th Annual Halifax Firemen's Carnival. Once again the Fisherville Fire Company was invited to set up a stand or two. The Candy Wheel went in again, along with a table for selling our four wheeler tickets. We want to thank everyone that stopped at both stands and hope to see you Thursday night.
ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR STOPPING AT THE SCHWAN'S FUNDRAISER
On Saturday, August 1st, 2009, members took all 4 trucks into Denny's Lennies in Halifax and set up for our second Schwan's Truck-Load-Of-Food Fundraiser. The officers and members of the Fisherville Volunteer Fire Company #1 would like to thank everyone that placed a pre-order and who stopped and bought items that day. The chicken was also present again, however, due to the heat, only made two brief appearances.

BERRYSBURG PARADE
On Tuesday, July 28th, 2009, members took Squad 216 up to the Berrysburg for their annual parade that kicks off their annual carnival.
ANNUAL FESTIVAL, NIGHT 3
On Saturday, July 11th, 2009 we held the third night of our annual festival. Shannon was the entertainment for the night. Unfortnately the rain came early on in the evening and put a damper on the rest of the night as the rain never really let up long enough for things to continue.
The Fisherville Volunteer Fire Company would like to thank the following people that donated services or items to our annual festival:

CONCESSION TRAILER MAKES DEBUT AT GRATZ FAIR GROUNDS
On Saturday, June 27th, 2009 members headed up to the Gratz Fair Grounds to provide breakfast and lunch to the Goat Breeders Association. Recently the Jackson Township Supervisors voted to give the fire company $19,000.00 to purchase a concession trailer that Gonder's Grubb House had for sale. A special thank you to all the members that helped to get the trailer cleaned and ready to be inspected. Once inspected we recieved our food license and had our first job with the Goat Breeders Association. Also a special thank you to the members that helped out on Saturday and it was a huge success.

LYKENS PARADE
On Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009, members loaded up the Engine and headed up to Lykens for their annual Block Party Parade. Everyone had a good time and please stop by Lykens someting during the rest of the week and enjoy their block party.
COMPANY BRINGS HOME FOUR TROPHIES FROM THE DAUPHIN COUNTY CONVENTION PARADE
On Saturday, June 13th, 2009, members took all 4 pieces down to Linglestown to attend the parade for the 91st Dauphin County Volunteer Firemen's Association. This is only the second public apperance by the Squad prior to it being completed. Once at Linglestown, all four pieces were judged.
The parade started at 14:00 hours and lasted 1.8 miles, ending at Koons Memorial Park. Once there it was time to wait until 17:00 hours when the awards were announced, and where we won the following trophies:
3rd Place - Most Functional Engine In County 1994-1999.
1st Place - Most Functional Tanker In County 2000-2009.
1st Place - Most Functional Squad in County.
Best Appearing Company in County.
All the members that worked on the trucks during the days and weeks leading up to the parade earned the trophies that we brought home, especailly the Best Appearing Company in County.

We would also like to extend a Congrats to Firefighter/EMT Jesse Shutt for becoming the new President of the Dauphin County Volunteer Firemen's Association for 2009-2010 at the Convention Business Meeting on Friday, June 12th, 2009.
SCRAP METAL DAY A HUGE SUCCESS
On Saturday, May 30th, 2009, we held our second annual scrap metal day at the fire house. The officers and members of the Fisherville Volunteer Fire Company would like to take this time to thank the community for their generous donations of scrap. We would also like to thank all of the members that helped with this fundraiser. Remember to start saving your scrap for our third annual scrap metal day to be held next year.
MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
On Monday, May 25th, 2009, members took both the Engine and the Tanker into Halifax for the annual Memorial Day Parade. The officers and members of the Fisherville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 extend a thank you to all men and women who are currently serving in the armed services, and also to all men and women who have served in the armed services.
FIRE COMPANY CHRISTMAS PARTY
On Saturday, December 13th, 2008 we held our 3rd annual Christmas Party at the fire hall. The evening started out with social hour between 17:00 hours and 18:00 hours. This was followed by the meal. Williams Catering supplied the delicous meal for the evening. We would like to thank Williams Catering again for catering our Christmas Party this year. We would also like to thank the crew from the New Buffalo Fire Company for again standing by and covering our territory while we had our party. After the meal it was time to hand out the awards.

It was then time to move on to the funny awards.
The Bent Metal Award went to Jesse Shutt, along with a Speed Limit Sign and the Indian Rake Handle that he broke on a brush fire this year.
David Faust got a grant application for a tiller truck.
Raymond Urich, Jr. then got a dog leash to keep in the station and a set of NFPA Compliant Steel Toed Slippers to wear.
After the awards were given out we then watched a slide show presentation put together by Andy Snyder. Door prizes were also given away at this time. We would like to thank all the businesses and individuals who donated door prizes for the night. After the door prizes were handed out Karaoke began for the night. We would again like to thank Lee Worthy for providing the entertainment for the night. We hope everyone had a good time at this years Christmas Party and we hope to see you there next year. |
