    FIRE ALARM IN THE 1 BOX
  • 02/07/12 At 06:44 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to 10 Bombaugh Road, Jackson Township for a commercial fire alarm. Engine 216 responded with 3 and was advised that the alarm was now reported to be false. Chief 216-2 (D. Faust) arrived on scene and confirmed a false activation and placed the box in service. The Fisherville Fire Police were also responding when the box was placed in service.
    ENGINE 216 CALLED FOR ACCIDENT IN 29-2 BOX
  • 01/26/12 At 18:23 hours, Engine 216 was dispatched in place of Engine 29-1 on Box 29-2 at the intersection of Armstrong Valley Road and Rutter Road, Halifax Township for an accident with injuries. Right after dispatch, Engine 29-1 went responding and Engine 216 was placed in service.
    TANKER ASSIST WICONISCO WITH JUNK YARD FIRE
  • 01/24/12 At 17:09 hours, Tanker 216 was dispatched to assist on Box 23-3 at 1891 Pottsville Street, Wiconisco Township. Company 23 and numerous other upper county companies were on the scene of a junk yard that had multiple stacks of vehicles fully involved with fire. Tanker 216 responded with 2 and joined the tanker shuttle that brought water to the scene of the fire. The tanker was out for 2-1/2 hours. Special thanks to Perry Tanker 9 (New Buffalo) for transferring to our station and standing by.
    TANKER TRANSFERS TO PERRY COUNTY
  • 01/14/12 At 04:36 hours Tanker 216 was dispatched to transfer to Perry Station 9 (New Buffalo) to stand by while they were on the scene of a structure fire in Perry County. Tanker 216 transferred with 2 and stood by at Station 8 for 3 hours with no calls run. Tanker was out for 3 hours.
    BRUSH FIRE IN THE 3 BOX STARTS OUT 2012
  • 01/11/12 11 days into 2012 the company finally got it's first call of the year. At 10:53 hours , Box 216-3 was dispatched to 299B Harman Road, Jackson Township for an outside fire. Engine 216 responded with 3 and Tanker 216 responded with 1. This call also brought Attack 20 and Brush 19. Chief 216-2 (D. Faust) arrived on the scene to find the fire already out and held the box to Company 216 class 3. The Tanker staged on Harman Road and the Engine continued into the scene. Once at the scene a PW and indian rakes were pulled off the Engine and used to soak down the burned area. Once this was completed the box was placed in service. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 30 minutes.
    ENGINE ASSIST COMPANY 29 ON ACCIDENT WITH ENTRAPMENT
  • 12/22/11 At 07:39 hours, Engine 216 was dispatched to Box 29-1 to Station 29 to set up a Landing Zone for Life Lion. Company 29 was on the scene at the intersection of Peters Mountain Road and Oak Avenue with an accident with entrapment. Engine 216 responded with 2. While enroute Command 29 diverted the engine to the scene to assist with man power. Once at the scene the crew from the engine assisted with extricating the patient from the vehicle and loading the patient in the back of the ambulance. Command 29 then sent the engine to Station 29 as Medic 6 had requested a second chopper to the scene. Engine 216 went to Station 29 and landed Life Flight and assisted with placing the patient into the chopper. Once this was done and Life Flight had departed, Command 29 placed the engine in service. Engine was out for 1-1/2 hours.

    TREE DOWN ON RETTINGER ROAD
  • 12/16/11 At 04:46 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to the intersection of Enders Road and Bombaugh Road, Jackson Township for a reported tree down across the roadway. Squad 216 responded with 2 and arrived on scene to find the tree to be on Rettinger Road. Crews pulled two chainsaws off of the Squad and utilized them to cut up the tree and move it off the roadway. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 40 minutes.
    WORKING STRUCTURE BESIDE THE FIRE STATION
  • 12/12/11 At 10:48 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to 8 Church Street, Jackson Township for a structure fire. Lieutenant 29-1 (B. Chandler) arrived on the scene with a working fire. This brought units from Companies 216, 29 (Halifax), 21 (Elizabethville), 20 (Millersburg), 26 (Berrysburg), 13 (Halifax EMS) and 6 (Life Team - Medic 6). Engine 216 responded with 3 and made a right turn out of the fire house and then another right turn into the yard beside the social hall and arrived on scene. Two 1-3/4" handlines were pulled with one being utilized on the exterior fire and one being stretched to the front door. Lieutenant 29-1 forced entry of the front door and the attack crew entered the structure. Once inside they were met with a smoke condition and fire in the walls. Tanker 216 responded with 1 and supplied Engine 216 with water. Tanker 21 also supplied Engine 216 with water at the scene. Tanker 29 dropped their port-a-tank and Engine 29-1 reversed laid from the scene out to Enders Road and set up to draft from the port-a-tank. Engine 20 had the fill site at Lake Tobias Wildlife Park. Extensive overhaul followed as crews worked at opening walls and ceilings to find the fire. Great job by crews to limiting the damage to the first floor of the structure. Special thanks to Perry Tanker 9 (New Buffalo) for transferring to Station 216. The Fisherville Fire Police responded and provided traffic control at the scene and were assisted by fire police from Halifax and Elizabethville. Crews were out for 3 hours.

    ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES IN THE ONE BOX
  • 12/08/11 At 22:42 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to 2561 Armstrong Valley Road, Jackson Township for an accident with injuries. This call had original come in as a 29-2 box at the intersection of Armstrong Valley Road and Rutter Road. Once information was updated it placed the call in the 216-1 box. Chief 29 (R. Stout) arrived on the scene to find one vehicle off the roadway and down an embankment with the driver already in custody of PSP. Squad 216 responded with 5 and once on the scene checked the vehicle for any hazards. Members then assisted West End Towing with removal of the vehicle. The Fisherville Fire Police responded and provided traffic control at the scene. The Halifax Fire Police also assisted with traffic control. Units were out for one hour.
    ASSIST HALIFAX WITH EXTRICATING AN INJURED HIKER
  • 12/03/11 At 18:45 hours, Company 216 was dispatched Class 1 on Box 29-1 to the top of Peters Mountain Road, Halifax Township to assist Company 29 with extricating an injured hiker off of the Appalachian Trail. Company 29 had received the call at 18:14 hours and asked for additional manpower from mutual aid companies. Along with Company 216 this also brought units from Halifax, Dauphin, Rescue of Susquehanna, Progress and Duncannon. Squad 216 responded with 4 and Engine 216 responded with 3. Engine 216 was staged at Station 29 and their personnel were ferried to the top of the mountain. Squad 216 staged at the top of the mountain and all personnel from Company 216 checked in with manpower. A crew from Halifax and Dauphin were already on the trail and working their way towards the patient. Members from Company 216 set out on the trail with a crew from Progress and hiked 3/4 of the way back the trail and staged. After Chief 29-3 (C. Bisking) and the crews from Halifax and Dauphin reached the patient, they accessed her and packaged her in a stokes basket and began the walk out. Crews rotated carrying the stokes basket until they reached Ranger 1 who then took the patient the rest of the way out. Great job by all crews and no injuries to any emergency personnel were reported. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and assisted with traffic control at the scene. Units were out for 2-1/2 hours.
    WORKING STRUCTURE FIRE IN HALIFAX TOWNSHIP
  • 11/29/11 At 04:59 hours, Box 29-2 was dispatched to 760 Tobias Road, Halifax Township for a commercial structure fire. This brought units from Company 29 (Halifax), Company 216, Company 20 (Millersburg) and Company 13 (Halifax EMS). Chief 29 (R. Stout) arrived on the scene to find a 20' x 30' fully involved out building with fire spreading to exposure buildings on the Bravo and Delta sides. Engine 216 responded with 3, Tanker 216 responded with 2, Squad 216 responded with 3 and Utility 216 responded with 1. Engine 216 arrived on scene first and two 1-3/4" handlines were pulled off. One handline was stretched to the Bravo side and utilized to extinguish the fire in the exposure building. The second handline was stretched to the Delta side to work on the exposure building. Crews were able to make entrance to the exposure building on the Delta side and crews were able to extinguish the fire and stop it from spreading in the exposure building. Once this was completed the interior crew exited the building and went to work on the main fire building. As other crews started arriving they started to remove the tin siding so that the seat of the fire could be reached. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down overhaul of the building was started. Engine 216 nursed off of Tanker 29 for the duration of the incident. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and assisted with traffic control at the scene. Units were out for 2-1/2 hours.
    SMOKE FROM A TRAILER IN HALIFAX TOWNSHIP
  • 11/22/11 At 14:49 Hours Engine 216 was dispatched as a replacement engine on Box 29-4 to 47 Evergreen Lane, Halifax Township for reported smoke from the trailer. Engine 216 responded with 3 and while enroute to the scene was placed in service by Command 29. The Fisherville Fire Police were also responding to the call. Units out for 20 minutes.
    ASSIST COMPANY 29 ON ANOTHER CO ALARM
  • 11/20/11 At 17:54 hours, Squad 216 was dispatched class 3 on Box 29-6 to 19 North Second Street, Halifax Borough to assist Company 29 on a CO Alarm. Chief 29-3 (C. Bisking) was on the scene and requested Squad 216 for our two electric negative pressure fans. Squad 216 responded with 5 and once on the scene set up the fans and assisted with checking the CO levels in the house. Once the CO levels had dropped to 0ppm, Command 29 placed the box in service. The Squad was out for a little over one hour.
    ASSIST COMPANY 29 ON A CO ALARM
  • 11/16/11 At 21:25 hours, Engine 216 was dispatched class 3 on Box 29-6 to 19 North Second Street, Halifax Borough to assist Company 29 at a CO Alarm Incident. Squad 216 responded with 4 in place of Engine 216. Once on scene we assist Company 29 with electric negative pressure fans to help ventilate the building. Members also assisted in checking the CO levels in the building with gas meters. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and assisted with traffic control at the scene. Units were out for 1 hour.
    FIRE REPORTED OUT IN HALIFAX BOROUGH
  • 11/12/11 At 19:07 hours, Box 29-6 was dispatched to 152 Riverview Drive, Halifax Borough for a structure fire reported out. This call brought units from Company 29 and Engine 216. Engine 216 responded with 3 and our assignment was to stage at Pizza Delight. Engine 216 staged at Pizza Delight until released by Command 29. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and assisted with traffic control at the scene. Units out for 30 minutes.
    TANKER GOES TO GRANTVILLE
  • 11/04/11 At 02:06 hours Tanker 216 was dispatched to transfer to Station 39. Company 39 (Grantville) and numerous other companies from Dauphin, Lebanon, Lancaster, Cumberland, Perry and York Counties were on the scene of two working barn fires. Tanker 216 transfered with 2 and stood by at Station 39 with Engine 456 (Chambers Hill) and Lebanon Rescue 5 (Annville). No calls were run while the tanker was on stand-by. Tanker out for 9-1/2 hours.

    REPORTED STRUCTURE FIRE IN HALIFAX BOROUGH
  • 10/30/11 At 20:46 hours, Box 29-6 was dispatched to 20 South Union Street, Halifax Borough for a reported structure fire. Engine 216 responded with 4 and Squad 216 was ready to respond with 4. Chief 29 (R. Stout) arrived on scene with nothing showing and confirmed a furnace malfunction and held the box to Company 29.
    OUTSIDE FIRE ON WHITE OAK ROAD
  • 10/29/11 At 16:37 hours, Box 216-3 was dispatched to 2449 White Oak Road, Jackson Township for a reported outside fire. Chief 216-1 (R. Stoneroad) went enroute and held all units in quarters. Engine 216 held in station with 5 members. Chief 216-1 arrived on scene to find wire on the ground and arching. A pole number was provided to county and the box was placed in service.
    FIRE POLICE SHUT DOWN 225
  • 10/29/11 At 14:18 hours, Car 216 called into county and advised that PSP requested the 3000 block of Armstrong Valley Road (State Route 225) shut down because of two minor accidents. The Fisherville Fire Police responded and provided traffic control until both vehicle were removed from the roadway.
    MEDICAL ASSIST IN THE 3 BOX
  • 10/18/11 At 17:22 Hours, Box 216-3 was dispatched to Deitrich Road, Jackson Township for a medical assist, chest pains. Squad 216 responded with 4 and once on scene the two EMT's began patient care until the arrival of Ambulance 24-1. Once EMS was on scene the crews assisted with moving the patient onto the stretcher and then loading them into the back of Ambulance 24-1. Once this was done the box was placed in service. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 30 minutes.
    REPORTED STRUCTURE FIRE IN HALIFAX TOWNSHIP
  • 10/17/11 At 17:52 Hours, Box 29-1 was dispatched to 32 Konick Road, Halifax Township for a reported structure fire. This brought companies 29 and 216. Engine 216 responded with 4 and Squad 216 responded with 4 and Utility 216 responded with 1. Chief 29-2 (C. Bisking) arrived on scene to find a furnace malfunction and held the box to Company 29. The Fisherville Fire Police were also responding when the box was placed in service.
    ASSIST COMPANY 29 WITH A PUMP DETAIL
  • 09/29/11 At 06:36 hours, Company 216 was dispatched on Box 29-4 to 1012 North River Road, Halifax Township to assist Company 29 with pumping out a front yard. Prior to any units from Company 216 respondind, Chief 29-3 (C. Bisking) placed Company 216 in service.
    ASSIST WITH TRAFFIC CONTROL DUE TO FLOODING
  • 09/28/11 At 21:07 Hours, Utility 216 was dispatched on box 216-1 to the 400 Block of Creek Drive, Jackson Township to assist with traffic control due to flooding. Utility 216 responded with 2 and once on the scene confirmed that road barriers were up and also placed flares down. Once this was completed the box was placed in service. Utility out for 20 minutes.
    TREE ON WIRES IN THE 1 BOX
  • 09/28/11 At 14:51 Hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to the intersection of Enders Road and Armstrong Valley Road, Jackson Township for a tree on wires. Squad 216 responded with 3 and Engine 216 responded with 2. Once on the scene the address was changed to the intersection of Stone Road and Armstrong Valley Road. There was a portion of a large tree that had fallen on top of some power lines. After giving the pole number to county communications, the box was placed in service. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 30 minutes.
    FIRE ALARM ON RETTINGER ROAD
  • 09/26/11 At 18:19 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to 166 Rettinger Road, Jackson Township for a Fire Alarm. Chief 216-2 (D. Faust) responded and was first arriving on the scene and found normal conditions. Engine 216 responded with 2, Squad 216 responded with 2 and Tanker 216 held in the station with 2. Once on the scene the Engine staged on Rettinger Road while the Squad went back the long drive to assist Chief 216-2 with his investigation. After county got a hold of the key holder who said she was 2 hours away and not responding, Command 216 did one more 360 of the structure and with normal conditions placed the box in service. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 25 minutes.
    OUTSIDE FIRE IN HALIFAX TOWNSHIP
  • 09/19/11 At 17:37 hours, Box 29-2 was dispatched to the intersection of Kissinger Road and Farm View Road, Halifax Township for an outside fire. This call brought Companies 29, Engine 216 and Attack 20. Prior to the Engine responding, Chief 29 (R. Stout) held the box to Company 29, class 3 and placed the rest of the box in service.
    FIRE ALARM ON RETTINGER ROAD
  • 09/11/11 At 03:44 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to 166 Rettinger Road, Jackson Township for a Fire Alarm. Engine 216 responded with 3 and Tanker 216 responded with 1. Once on scene Engineer 216 (T. Shoop) went up the long lane to the house in his pov to investigate. This turned out to be a summer home and the owner was not home. After county tried contacting the key holder multiple times, it was decided to place the box in service. Units out for 45 minutes.
    ASSIST COMPANY 48 WITH BASEMENT PUMPING
  • 09/10/11 On this day county communications put out a county wide page asking for any companies willing to assist Company 48. The rain had stopped and the skies were clear, and with river and steam levels dropping, there was a lot of pump details in Hershey. Company 48 had worked tirelessly for days on end and was looking for any help. Company 216 decided to go down and lend a hand. Squad 216 responded to Derry Township with 5. Once in Derry Township they assisted at 8 different locations using the on-board generator to run electric sump pumps. Special thanks to the Hershey Fire Department for the hospitality while we were down there and glad we could help our brothers out. Squad out for 7 hours.
    BASEMENT PUMPING ON ENDERS ROAD
  • 09/07/11 At 19:12 hours, we advised county communication that Company 216 was responding to Box 216-1, 922 Enders Road, Jackson Township for a pump detail. Squad 216 responded with 5 and Utility 216 responded with 2. Once on the scene the portable pump was pulled off of the Squad and set up to start pumping water. Once the water was pumped down to a few inches, the box was placed in service. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 1 hour.
    ASSIST COMPANY 19 WITH BASEMENT PUMPING
  • 09/07/11 At 16:43 hours Company 19 requested Company 216 to assist with basement pumping at 175 Small Valley Road. Squad 216 responded with 5. While enroute, Chief 19 (D. Warfel) changed our location to 285 Small Valley Road, Wayne Township for a pump detail. Squad 216 arrived on scene and was met by a member of Company 19. The portable pump was pulled off of the Squad and set up and started pumping water out of the basement. Once the water was down to a few inches the box was placed in service. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Squad out for 2-1/2 hours.
    BASEMENT PUMPING ON TOURIST PARK ROAD
  • 09/07/11 With the rain starting to pick up again in the area, the calls for flooded basements started coming in. At 13:33 hours we advised county communications by phone that Company 216 was responding on Box 216-1 to 1274 Tourist Park Road, Jackson Township for a pump detail. Squad 216 responded with 4 and Utility 216 responded with 2. Once on scene the portable pump was pulled off of the Squad and set up and started pumping out the basement. After the water was down to a few inches the box was placed in service. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 30 minutes.
    ASSIST COMPANY 29 WITH BASEMENT PUMPING
  • 09/07/11 At 11:30 hours, Company 29 requested Company 216 to help assist with basement pumping in Box 29-1 at 10 Fellowship Drive at the church. Squad 216 responded with 4 and Utility 216 responded with 2. Once on the scene the portable pumps from both the Squad and Utility were set up at the rear of the church and started pumping water out of the basement. The gas meter was also pulled off of the Squad and utilized inside the structure to check the CO levels to make sure they were within safe operating levels. Once the water level had been pumped down to a few inches, Company 29 thanked us for our assistance and placed us in service. Units on the scene for 2 hours.
    MEDICAL ASSIST IN THE ONE BOX
  • 09/07/11 At 10:33 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to Snyder Road, Jackson Township for a Medical Assist. Squad 216 responded with 5 and once on the scene assisted with BLS care until the arrival of Ambulance 13-1 and Medic 6. Crews then assisted with loading the patient into the back of the ambulance. Once this was done the box was placed in service. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Squad out for 30 minutes.
    TANKER TRANSFERS TO LINGELSTOWN
  • 09/04/11 At 05:44 Hours, Tanker 216 was dispatched to transfer to Lingelstown, Station 35. Company 35 and other lower county companies were working a 2 alarm residential structure fire in Grantville. Tanker 216 responded with 2 and stood by at Station 35 for 1-1/2 hours with no calls taken in. Once Tankers 37 and 38 were released from the scene, Chief 35-1 released the tanker from its stand-by. Tanker out for 2 hours total.

  • 08/28/11 At 07:35 Hours, Sqaud 216 advised county communications that they were responding to the 216-2 Box to the intersection of Harman Road and Deitrich Road, Jackson Township for a report of a tree down across the roadway. Squad 216 also advised of a tree against wires at the intersection of Harman Road and Mountain House Road, Jackson Township. Squad 216 handled the call at the intersection of Harman Road and Mountain House Road while Engine 216 handled the call at the intersection of Harman Road and Deitrich Road. Utility 216 also repsonded to assist with traffic control. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and assisted with traffic control at the scene. Units out for 20 minutes.

  • 08/28/11 At 06:43 Hours, Box 216-2 was dispatched to the intersection of Wolf Hole Road and Small Valley Road, Jackson Township for a report of a tree leaning on wires. Utility 216 responded and once on scene the Utility and the Fisherville Fire Police provided traffic control until the tree was removed from the wires. Units out for 2-1/2 Hours.

  • 08/28/11 At 06:37 Hours, Engine 216 advised county communications that they were responding to 565 Enders Road, Jackson Township for a report of a tree down across the roadway. Engine 216 arrived on the scene and the tree was removed. Utility 216 also responded to assist with tree removal. Units out for 20 minutes.

  • 08/28/11 At 06:14 Hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to the intersection of Armstrong Valley Road and Tourist Park Road, Jackson Township for a report of Wires Down. Engine 216 responded with 4 and Squad 216 responded. Once on scene at the intersection, nothing was found and the box was placed in service. Units out for 20 minutes.
    BACK TO THE TWO BOX FOR YET ANOTHER FIRE ALARM
  • 08/23/11 At 08:14 hours, Box 216-2 was dispatched to 352 Mountain House Road, Jackson Township at Hearth and Home (Harman Stoves), for an automatic fire alarm. Engine 216 responded with 3 and while enroute Chief 23-1 called and advised county that it was a false trip. After Chief 216-2 (D. Faust) talked to Chief 23-1, the box was placed in service. The Fisherville Fire Police were also responding to the scene when the box was placed in service.
    ANOTHER FIRE ALARM, THIS TIME IN THE ONE BOX
  • 08/21/11 At 21:01 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to 1225 Enders Road, Jackson Township for a fire alarm. Chief 216-2 (D. Faust) went enroute and was advised by county communications that they had received a call from ADT that the alarm was set off by an oven smoking in the house and the homeowners didn't want the fire company. Chief 216-2 held Engine 216 in quarters while he continued in to investigate. Engine 216 held in quarters with 13 members until Chief 216-2 confirmed burnt food and placed the box in service.
    THIRD CALL IN AN HOUR IS ANOTHER FIRE ALARM
  • 08/20/11 While the Squad was returning to the station and the Engine crew was chewing the fat back at the station, county communications called Squad 216 at 07:36 hours and advised them that they got another fire alarm at Hearth and Home. Squad 216 had county dispatched the box class 3 and also had the Engine responded in class 3. The Squad again responded with 3 and the Engine responded with 5. Once units arrived on scene they again talked to the plant manager who advised that it was another false trip. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units were out for another 20 minutes.
    FIRE ALARM IN THE 2 BOX
  • 08/20/11 While crews were on the medical assist in the one box, at 07:10 hours, Box 216-2 was dispatched to 352 Mountain House Road at Hearth and Home (Harman Stoves), for a Fire Alarm. Squad 216 broke away from the medical assist and responded with 3 and Engine 29-1 was dispatched in place of Engine 216. Once enroute county advised Squad 216 that they received a call from the alarm company that it was a false trip. Squad 216 then held the box to themselves and placed Engine 29-1 in service. Once on the scene and talking to the plant manager it was determined to be set off by objects being placed in front of the smoke beams. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units were out for 20 minutes.
    ANOTHER MEDICAL ASSIST IN THE ONE BOX
  • 08/20/11 At 06:51 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to Snyder Road, Jackson Township for a medical assist. Engine 216 responded with 3 and Squad 216 responded with 4. Units arrived on the scene behind MICU 6-4. Once crews made entry to the house they were advised my EMS that he patient had lit a cigarette while on oxygen and the oxygen had flashed and caught on fire. There was also a light haze present in the structure and burn marks evident on the carpet. The patients wife extinguished the fire prior to the arrival of emergency services. The two EMT's that were on the Squad assisted EMS with patient care while the Engine crew brought the TIC in to check the house and performed a sweep of the house. The sweep turned up negative and then crews assisted EMS with loading the patient into their ambulance. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units were out for 30 minutes. We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that if you are on home oxygen, PLEASE DO NOT smoke yourself or allow anyone else to smoke in your house as what happened today can happen to you also.
    MEDICAL ASSIST STAY BUSY IN THE ONE BOX
  • 08/02/11 At 16:17 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to Nice Road, Jackson Township for a medical assist. Company 216 was dispatched as Company 13 was already out on another EMS call. Squad 216 responded with 4 including an EMT within minutes of the dispatch. Squad 216 arrived on scene first and initiated BLS patient care. Once MICU 6-5 from Life Team Medic 6 arrived on scene the squad crew assisted with packaging the patient on the stretcher and loaded them into the back of the ambulance. The squad was out for 30 minutes.
    MEDICAL ASSIST IN THE ONE BOX
  • 07/28/11 At 08:28 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to Snyder Road, Jackson Township for a medical assist, lifting assistance. Squad 216 responded with 2 and was advised that there was an EMT on the scene and we were needed for lifting assistance. Squad 216 arrived on the scene and the crew assisted EMT K. Stout with BLS procedures until the arrival of Halifax EMS and Life Team - Medic 6. Members assisted with packaging the patient onto a backboard and then securing the patient to the stretcher and loaded them in the back of Ambulance 13-1. After this was done Chief 216-2 (D. Faust) placed the box in service. Squad was out for 30 minutes.
    TANKER TRANSFERS TO NEW BUFFLAO
  • 07/19/11 At 13:05 hours Tanker 216 was dispatched to transfer to Perry Station 9. Tanker 216 responded with 2 minutes after dispatch and transferred to New Buffalo's Station. Tanker was out for 2-1/2 hours with no calls run.
    ENGINE ASSIST WITH ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES ON PETERS MOUNTAIN
  • 07/17/11 At 12:23 hours Engine 216 was dispatched to assist Company 29 with setting up a landing zone. Company 29 was working a motorcycle accident with injuries on top of Peters Mountain that involved one patient 30 feet down over the side of the mountain. Engine 216 responded with 5. The landing zone was changed to the south side of Peters Mountain and Engine 216 was told to stand-by at Station 29 and arrived there at 12:37 hours. 8 minutes later Command 29 requested Engine 216 to the scene for additional manpower. Once on scene the crew assisted with the haul system that was already in place. Engine 216 was out for 1-1/2 hours.

    ACCIDENT WITH ENTRAPMENT IN THE 2 BOX
  • 07/08/11 At 15:02 hours, Box 216-2 was dispatched to the intersection of Armstrong Valley Road and Mountain House Road, Jackson Township for an accident with entrapment. This call also brought units from Companies 21 (Elizabethville), 29 (Halifax), and 6 (Life Team - Medic 6) to the scene. Chief 216-2 (D. Faust) arrived on scene with a single vehicle that a tree had fallen on with a single patient trapped inside the vehicle. Squad 216 responded with 4. Rescue 21 arrived first and pulled their rescue tools off and went to work removing both driver's side doors and rolling the "B" post down. Squad 216 and Engine 29-1 arrived on scene and assisted with extrication of the patient from the vehicle. Once the patient was extricated from the vehicle and loaded into the back of MICU 6-4. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene and along the detour. The Elizabethville Fire Police also assisted with traffic control. Units out for one hour.

  • 06/29/11 At 10:41 hours, Box 216-2 was dispatched to Mountain House Road, Jackson Township for a medical assist, lifting assistance. Squad 216 responded and other members went to the scene. Once on the scene members asssisted Ambulance 13-1 with loading the patient into the back of their ambulance. Once this was done the box was placed in service. Squad out for 30 minutes.
    MEDICAL ASSIST IN HALIFAX TOWNSHIP
  • 06/28/11 At 11:01 hours Company 216 was dispatched as the next due fire company to Box 29-2 on Dunkel School Road, Halifax Township for a medical assist. Minutes after Company 216 was dispatched, Company 29 responded and Engine 216 was placed in service.
    THE 3 BOX KEEPS BUSY WITH A SMOKE INVESTIGATION
  • 06/17/11 At 14:22 hours, Box 216-3 was once again dispatched for 535 Harman Road, Jackson Township for a smoke investigtion. Chief 216 responded and was advised by county communications that the caller saw smoke to the rear of her house and at the end of the phone call the caller stated that her neighbor had contacted her and advised her that he was burning trash. Chief 216 held Engine 216 in quarters while he went into investigate. Engine 216 stood by in station until Chief 216 arrived and verified that the services of the fire department were not needed. Units out for 15 minutes.
    TREE DOWN ON HARMAN ROAD
  • 06/12/11 At 15:05 hours, Box 216-3 was dispatched to 245 Harman Road, Jackson Township for a tree down across the roadway. Squad 216 responded with 3 and once on scene used the chain saw to cut the tree up and move it off to the side of the road. Squad out for 20 minutes.
    TREE DOWN ON DEITRICH ROAD
  • 05/29/11 At 09:07 hours Box 216-3 was dispatched to 592 Deitrich Road, Jackson Township to assist PSP with a tree down across the roadway. Squad 216 responded with 2 and Utility 216 responded with 1. Captain 216 (J. Faust) arrived on scene to find a small tree across the roadway. Captain 216 and another company member with a chainsaw cut up the tree and removed it from the roadway prior to the Squad arriving on scene and placed the box in service. The Fisherville Fire Police were also responded to this call. Units out for 20 minutes.
    MEDICAL ASSIST ON TOURIST PARK ROAD
  • 05/24/11 At 07:21 hours Box 216-1 was dispatched to Tourist Park Road, Jackson Township for a medical assist, cardiac arrest. Squad 216 responded with 3 and arrived on scene first. The crew from the Squad started CPR and attached the AED. Once Medic 6 and Halifax EMS arrived on scene the crew from the Squad continued to assist EMS until a Signal 12 was called. Once EMS no longer needed our services the box was placed in service. Squad was out for 30 minutes.

  • 05/17/11 At 20:55 hours Box 216-1 was dispatched to Creek Drive, Jackson Township for a Medical Assist. Company 216 was dispatched due to Medic 6 responding from Lykens. Engine 216 responded with 4 and once on the scene assisted with basic BLS care until the arrival of MICU 6-5. Crews then assisted with moving the patient from the house and loading them into the back of MICU 6-5. Engine out for 25 minutes.
    MEDICAL ASSIST ON STONE ROAD
  • 04/28/11 At 09:32 hours Box 216-1 was dispatched to Stone Road, Jackson Township for a medical assist, cardiac arrest. Squad 216 was out the door in minutes with 2 including an EMT on board. Squad 216 arrived on scene and started BLS treatment of the patient. It was determined that the patient was not in cardiac arrest. The crew from the Squad then assisted Medic 6 personnel with packaging the patient and loading the patient into their ambulance to be transported to the hospital. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Squad out for 40 minutes.
    ODOR OF SOMETHING BURNING IN THE ONE BOX
  • 04/27/11 At 20:12 hours Box 216-1 was dispatched to 121 Ronnie Lane, Jackson Township for an odor of something burning inside a house. This call brought units from Halifax, Elizabethville and Millersburg. Chief 29-2 (W. Pottiger) arrived on scene to find an odor of something burning inside the house. Engine 216 responded with 4, Tanker 216 responded with 2, Utility 216 responded with 1 and Squad 216 responded with 4. Once on scene units utilized TIC's to check the structure and found nothing. After further investigation the odor was also noticed outside of the structure as well. The cause was finally found to be a neighbor had just finished burning trash. With the source found Command 216 held the box to Company 216 and Engine 29-1. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units were out for 1 hour.

  • 04/23/11 At 10:09 hours Box 216-1 was dispatched to Snyder Road, Jackson Township for a medical assist for lifting assistance. Engine 216 responded with 5 and once on scene assisted Ambulance 13-2 and MICU 6-3 with moving the patient out of the residence and loading the patient into Ambulance 13-2. Units out for 20 minutes.
    ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES IN FRONT OF GONDER'S GRUBB HOUSE
  • 04/22/11 At 15:04 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to the area in front of Gonder's Grubb House, 2409 Armstrong Valley Road, Jackson Township for an accident with injuries. Squad 216 responded with 3. This call also brought Engine 29-1 from Halifax. Once units were on the scene they put oil dry down and swept the roadway. Crews also assisted EMS crews with packaging the three patients that were transported to the hospital. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units were out for 50 minutes.
    WORKING STRUCTURE FIRE ON THE RIDGE
  • 04/21/11 At 13:35 hours Box 216-1 was dispatched to 663 Ridge Road, Jackson Township for a vehicle fire inside a garage. Shortly after dispatch, Captain 216 requested the 1st Alarm be dispatched. With the 1st Alarm this brought units from Halifax, Millersburg, Carsonville, Elizabethville, Berrysburg and Halifax EMS. Engine 216 responded with 2, Tanker 216 responded with 1 and Squad 216 responded with 1. Once Engine 216 with Captain 216 (J. Faust) arrived on scene it was confirmed that a vehicle was on fire inside the garage. The cisco load was pulled off the back of Engine 216 while Engine 29-1 pulled up in the driveway and two cross-lays and the trash line were pulled. Once crews made entry to the garage the majority of the fire had disappeared. The garage door was cut open for ventilation and the Fire Marshall was called to the scene. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene and were assisted by the Elizabethville Fire Police. Units were out for 3 hours.

    REPORTED TREE DOWN ON BASTIAN ROAD
  • 04/17/11 At 14:51 hours Company 216 was dispatched to Box 216-2 the intersection of Armstrong Valley Road and Bastian Road, Jackson Township for a tree down across the roadway. Squad 216 responded with 4 and once on scene couldn't find a tree. Crews searched Armstrong Valley Road to the top of Berry Mountain and Bastian Road with nothing found. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded. With nothing being found Command 216 placed the box in service. Units out for 20 minutes.
    ENGINE AND SQUAD GO TO MILLERSBURG
  • 04/16/11 While the rain was still coming down at 20:58 hours Engine 216 was dispatched on the 1st Alarm to Box 20-1, 801 Union Street to assist on a structure fire. Engine 216 responded with 3 and Squad 216 responded with 4 to support the Engine. As the Engine was passing the former Engle-Rissinger Auto Group, Command 20 gave an assignment to transfer to Station 20 and stand-by. Squad 216 was then placed in service as they were not needed at the scene. The Engine stood by at Station 20 with a crew of 5 for 2 hours until released by Command 20.


    TRAFFIC CONTROL DUE TO FLOODING
  • 04/16/11 At 20:20 hours Utility 216 called into County Communications and advised that they were on scene at the intersection of Creek Drive and Rutter Road and would be providing traffic control due to flooding of the roadway. Throughout the remainder of the night the Utility and the Fisherville Fire Police assisted with directing traffic on various roads in Jackson Township due to flooding. Once Jackson Township Public Works Crews placed barriers on the flooded roadways the Utility and the Fire Police went available. Utility and the Fire Police out for 3-1/2 hours.
    ACCIDENT IN TOWN WITH PORCH COLLAPSE
  • 04/12/11 At 15:04 hours Box 216-1 was dispatched to the intersection of Armstrong Valley Road and Enders Road, Jackson Township for an accident with injuries. Chief 216 (R. Urich, Jr.) arrived on scene with an updated address of 1845 Armstrong Valley Road. Chief 216 found a single vehicle off the side of the road and had struck a porch on a house. The driver of the vehicle was not injuried and the porch on the house was demolished. Squad 216 responded and once on scene assisted with fluid control at the vehicle and clearing debris off the roadway. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units were out for 1 hour.

    ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES IN THE 2 BOX
  • 04/08/11 At 15:45 hours, Box 216-2 was dispatched to the intersection of Mountain House Road and Harman Road, Jackson Township for an accident with injuries. Capt. 216 (J. Faust) was already on the scene with a single vehicle that had struck the guard rail. Squad 216 responded with 3 and once on scene assisted with debris removal. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 39 minutes.
    WORKING STRUCTURE FIRE IN THE 3 BOX
  • 03/28/11 At 01:54 hours Box 216-3 was dispatched to the rear of 492 Harman Road for an outside fire. One minute after this dispatch county communications re-dispatched this as a reported house fire. Chief 29-1 (T. Pottiger) went enroute with a glow visible from his house in the 1400 block of Tourist Park Road. Chief 216-2 (D. Faust) also went enroute and requested that the 1st alarm be dispatched. This call saw units from Companies 29 (Halifax), 19 (Carsonville), 21 (Elizabethville), 20 (Millersburg) and 26 (Berrysburg) dispatched to the scene. Engine 216 responded with 5, Utility 216 responded with 1 and Tanker 216 responded with 1 later in the call. Chief 29-1 arrived on the scene and updated the address to 440 Harman Road and advised that he had a fully involved house that was already to the ground. Engine 21 was the first engine in and laid 5" from the hard road back the driveway. Engine 19-1 was next in and drafted from the pond along the hard road. The remainder of the units staged on Harman Road. 1-3/4" lines were pulled off of Engine 21 along with two 2-1/2" lines. Live power lines limited crews access to all sides of the structure. Control was marked within 1 hour of the call being dispatched with hours of overhaul remaining. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units were out for 7 hours.

    BRUSH FIRE IN HALIFAX TOWNSHIP
  • 03/18/10 At 18:05 hours, Engine 216 was dispatched as a replacement unit on Box 29-1, 50 Williams Street, Halifax Township for a brush fire. The Engine had a crew of 3 ready to respond when Engine 29 went responding and we were placed in service.
    POLE FIRE IN THE 2 BOX
  • 03/12/11 At 12:08 hours Box 216-2 was dispatched to the 600 block of Small Valley Road, Jackson Township for a pole fire. Captain 216 (J. Faust) arrived on scene to find the fire to be out. Engine 216 responded with 2, Squad 216 responded with 2 and Tanker 216 responded with 1. While enroute commaned held the box to the Engine and the Squad. After a pole number was provided to county communications and no sparking or fire was noted over a 20 minute period, command placed the box in service. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 30 minutes.
    BASEMENT PUMPING
  • 03/10/11 At 18:55 hours county dispatched Box 216-3 to 348 White Oak Road, Jackson Township for flooding in a basement. The Squad was ready to respond with 3 and the Utility was ready to respond with 1 when Chief 19 advised county that based on the address the call would actually be in Jefferson Township in Box 19-1. With this information county placed Company 216 in service.
    CO ALARM IN THE 1 BOX
  • 02/28/11 At 06:41 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to 2420 Armstrong Valley Road, Jackson Township for a CO Alarm. This brought Company 216 and Rescue 21 to the scene. Squad 216 responded with 2. Captain 216 (J. Faust) arrived on the scene to find everyone out of the house. Crews arrived and went interior to monitor and check the air. After the house was checked and cleared, command placed the box in service. Units out for 20 minutes.
    ACCIDENT IN THE 2 BOX
  • 02/22/11 At 09:01 hours, Box 216-2 was dispatched to the intersection of Armstrong Valley Road and Mountain House Road, Jackson Township for an accident with injuries. This brought Company 216 and Rescue 21. Chief 216-2 (D. Faust) arrived on scene to find the accident half way up the mountain. Chief 216-2 assisted with patient care and transferring the patient to the waiting ambulance from Medic 6. Squad 216 responded with 3 and Utility 216 responded with 1. Once on the scene crews assisted with removing debris from the roadway. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 20 minutes.
    CHIMNEY FIRE IN THE SNOW
  • 02/21/11 Shortly after the end of the monthly company meeting, at 20:13 hours, Box 216-2 was dispatched to 2750 Armstrong Valley Road, Jackson Township for a reported chimney fire. Engine 216 responded with 5, Tanker 216 responded with 2 and Squad 216 responded with 1. Captain 216 (J. Faust) arrived on scene right behind the Engine and found a 2-1/2 story wood frame dwelling with nothing showing. A crew of 3 from the Engine went interior to check the fire place, while the rest of the crew threw a 35' ladder to access the roof and check the chimney. Due to icy conditions on the roof, command requested Truck 20 to the scene class 1. Crews removed the logs and ashes from the fire place and used a TIC to check for extension in the walls and attic. Truck 20 arrived on scene as the snow began to fall and went to the roof to check the chimney. Once it was determined that the chimney was clear the box was placed in service. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 1-1/2 hours.

  • 02/19/11 During the lunch break of the Basic Ropes and Rigging Class, Chief 216 (R. Urich, Jr.) received a phone call about a tree down across the road on Enders Road. Squad 216 responded with 4 along with the chief and advised county at 12:40 hours that we were on scene at 34 Enders Road, Jackson Township with a tree down. A chainsaw was pulled off the Squad and the tree was cut up and pushed off to the side of the road. The road was then swept with a broom. Units were out for 10 minutes.

  • 02/04/11 At 10:06 hours, Box 216-3 was dispatched to Harman Road, Jackson Township for a medical assist, cardiac arrest. Squad 216 responded with 2. While enroute to the scene EMS placed us in service as they had a Signal 12 at the scene. Squad out for 20 minutes.
    TRACTOR TRAILER BRAKE FIRE IN THE 1 BOX
  • 02/01/11 At 13:05 hours, Box 216-1 was dispatched to the intersection of Armstrong Valley Road and Tourist Park Road, Jackson Township for a reported tractor trailer fire. Capt. 216 (J. Faust) found the tractor trailer pulled over in front of Hoffman's Outdoor Power and Repair. A trooper from PSP and Firefighter P. Enders had already extinguished the brake fire on the rear axle of the trailer with fire extinguishers. Tanker 216 responded with 1 and Squad 216 responded with 2. Once on the scene the trash line was pulled from the Tanker and used to wet down the rear brakes. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and provided traffic control at the scene. Units out for 1 hour.
    TANKER GOES TO HERNDON TOWNSHIP THIRD ALARM WORKER
  • 01/25/11 At 21:03 hours Tanker 216 was dispatched mutual aid to Herndon Township, Northumberland County on a 3rd Alarm Working Commercial Structure Fire. Multiple units from Northumberland County, Snyder County, Union County and Upper Dauphin County were on the scene of a three alarm working commercial structure fire at the Old Creative Play Things in Herndon Township. Tanker 216 responded with 2 and once on scene joined the long line of tankers shuttling water. Tanker was on scene for 3 hours and dropped multiple loads of water before being released by command.     CHIMNEY FIRE IN WAYNE TOWNSHIP
  • 01/24/11 After patiently waiting 24 days the company finally ran its first call of 2011. At 20:07 hours Company 216 was dispatched on Box 29-3 to 1395 Powell's Valley Road, Wayne Township to assist at the scene of a structure fire. Company 29 was originally dispatched for a chimney fire at the above address. Chief 29-3 (C. Bisking) arrived on the scene to find flames coming from the roof around the chimney and requested Engine & Tanker 216 and Engine & Tanker 20. Engine 216 responded with 4, Tanker 216 responded with 2 and Utility 216 responded with 1. After being enroute for a few minutes, Command 29 advised us that we could come in class 3. Once on the scene crews assisted with removing wood and ash from the interior stove and checking the chimney. Once this was done command placed us in service. The Fisherville Fire Police also responded and assisted with traffic control at the scene. Units out for 1 hour.
