Some of the special events planned for 2010 include
May 22, 2010
Build a Wildflower Garden
We will be building a bird and butterfly garden with the help of the Audubon Society. The area around the park office will have the grass removed and we will be planting flowers that are native to the park. Paving stone walkways and signs will be installed. Come out and help or just come and enjoy the fun. Work begins at 9AM. Bring your gloves and small hand tools
June 5, 2010 is National Trails Day
Come and help remodel a portion of the Gerard hiking trail behind the park office. We will be diverting a wet (spring) area and putting in 4x4s to make it easier to walk this portion of the cross trail. Work begins at 10AM.
June 25, 2010 Bat Count
Meet at the Egbert House at 8:30 PM to set up for a bat count. Bring a flashlight and a chair. The count is important to determine if the white nose fungus is effecting the bats in the Oil Creek State Park bat houses. The only labor involved is pushing the button on a counter. And don't worry bats won't get in your hair

August 14, 2010 - Summer Biathlon
This running and shooting event will use a portion of the Cross Country Ski Trails. Last year it was the largest summer biathlon in Pennsylvania. Come and participate as a runner in one of the many classes. Volunteers are needed for a variety of jobs or just enjoy the fun and support the runners with your cheers. Oil Creek 100 Trail Runs
October 16, 2010
Runners will be using part of the Gerard Hiking trail for 50K, 100K & 100 mile runs. Details are available at www.oilcreek100.org100 miles - 17,785' elevation gain - 32 hour time limit - 5 AM Saturday to 1 PM Sunday = 19:12 / mile
100K - 31 hour time limit - 6 AM Saturday to 1 PM Sunday = 30:00 / mile
50K - 5,459' elevation gain - 17 hour time limit - 7 AM to midnight Saturday = 32:55 / mile
