Welcome to FRUA-PA !!!
FRUA-PA Who we are:
We are the Pennsylvania chapter of FRUA, Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption, Including Neighboring Countries. We sponsor social events and orphan outreach programs throughout the year. We also publish information on Eastern European Cultural events in Pennsylvania and therapuetic, medical and educational support for adoptive families. FRUA-PA is a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation.
We currently have 82 member families in our chapter and we are looking to actively grow our membership across Pennsylvania through the establishment of regional subchapters. FRUA National has over 2,000 member families. Membership in FRUA is easy and inexpensive. To join see our links below.
We continue to welcome all families who have adopted from or are planning to adopt from the former Soviet Republics and other Eastern European countries. Currently, our chapter represents adoptive families with children from:
- Belarus
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Russia
- Ukraine
Important Hague Announcement by US Department of State: The DOS has published the list of agencies approved to offer adoption programs in Hague convention countries:

If you are planning to adopt from one of the following EE/former soviet countries and will not have your i600a filed by March 31, 2008, be sure you select a Hague accredited agency:
Albania, Armenia, Azerbijaijan, Belarus (currently closed), Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Republic of Georgia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania (currently closed), Slovakia, Slovenia.
FRUA-PA Family Picnic: Saturday May 3rd from 11:30 until 3 pm at Thornbury Park in Thornton PA. Newly renovated swing sets and play area, walking trails, basketball courts, picnic pavilion. Bring lunch for your family and FRUA-PA will provide desserts. The park is located at the corner of Glen Mills Road and Thornton Road in Thornbury Township, Delaware County. Lancaster Area Mom's Morning Coffee Friday, May 9th 9:30- 11:30, at the home of Gina Pollock. Come chat about parenting, motherhood, adoption or any issue on your mind. Children welcome. Contact Gina if you are interested rmprhp@yahoo.com.

FRUA-PA operates a chapter-affiliated Grow Bag Program. Grow bags are given to adopting parents and are filled with good donations (clothing, over-the-counter medicines, toiletries, and developmental toys) collected by our membership. The bags are hand delivered to the orphanage by the traveling family. The family then returns the Grow Bag back to FRUA-PA to be refilled for the next traveling family. Participation in the Grow Bag is availble only to FRUA members.

FRUA-PA Opportunities:

Help us increase membership: FRUA-PA is looking for families from the following regions who are interested in forming sub-chapters: Northeastern PA, Southwestern PA, and Northwestern PA.
