Welcome to FRUA-PA !!!

FRUA-PA Who we are:

We are the Pennsylvania chapter of FRUA, Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption, Including Neighboring Countries. We sponsor social events and orphan outreach programs throughout the year. We also publish information on Eastern European Cultural events in Pennsylvania and therapuetic, medical and educational support for adoptive families. FRUA-PA is a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation.

We currently have 84 member families in our chapter and we are looking to actively grow our membership across Pennsylvania through the establishment of regional subchapters. FRUA National has over 2,000 member families. Membership in FRUA is easy and inexpensive. To join see our links below.

We continue to welcome all families who have adopted from or are planning to adopt from the former Soviet Republics and other Eastern European countries. Currently, our chapter represents adoptive families with children from:

  • Belarus
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Russia
  • Ukraine

FRUA-PA Annual Fall Hayride: Saturday evening, October 11, 2008 at Linvilla Orchards. Please meet us at 5:45 in the hayride area at the little house beside Pumpkin Land, for a 30-minute hayride. The hayride will depart at 6:15 and will be followed by a 45-minute bonfire. The cost per person is $8.00 for FRUA members and $10 for non members, and everyone (including babies) is counted. We have reserved two private wagons (a 50 person and a 30 person) just for FRUA and will have a private bonfire to roast hot dogs and marshmallows and drink cider (all included). Your reservation and payment for this gathering is due in advance, by October 5, and is non-refundable. Please send a check, payable to FRUA-PA, to Jennifer Greenman 4 Thomas Drive, Boothwyn, PA 19061 to reserve your hayride space. Include a list of attendees with your payment. Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. If you have any questions, email Jennifer Greenman at wgreenman@hotmail.com

Joining FRUA-PA

Membership in FRUA-PA is $35 per family/year. This includes free or reduced admission to our social events, educational seminars, quarterly newsletters containing educational, social and cultural articles of interest to adoptive families, and the national FRUA newsletter Family Focus. Moreover, it gives you immediate support and access to other families who have adopted from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and children your adopted child can play with, interact with, and grow up with who have gone through the same experiences. Our families have found that there is no roadmap to guide new parents of adoptive children from the former Soviet Union, so we've turned to the real experts - other families. We can help you prepare for your adoption experience and support you after you return home

To join FRUA, go to: www.frua.org and click on Membership, be sure to select Pennsylvania.

  Grow Bag Program

FRUA-PA operates a chapter-affiliated Grow Bag Program. Grow bags are given to adopting parents and are filled with good donations (clothing, over-the-counter medicines, toiletries, and developmental toys) collected by our membership. The bags are hand delivered to the orphanage by the traveling family. The family then returns the Grow Bag back to FRUA-PA to be refilled for the next traveling family. Participation in the Grow Bag is availble only to FRUA members.
