2007 Orphange Support Programs:

Vitamins for Belarus: We will once again be collecting viatmins for the Children's Home in Mosty, Belarus. Children staying at the home range from infants to teens. They need infant, children's, and adult vitamins. Please consider making a donation when you attend FRUA events from March through June 2007. The vitamins will be delivered in late July/early August.

Vitamins for LithuaniaWe will once again be collecting viatmins for the Children's Home in Kaunas, Lithuania. Children staying at the home range from 2 weeks to age 4. They need infant and children's vitamins, tylenol or other fever/pain reducers and AA batteries. Please consider making a donation when you attend FRUA events from June through October 2007. The vitamins will be delivered in late November/ early December. Due to unforeseen problems with our shipper, there will be a delay in shipping the items to Lithuania - it is estimated that the next shipment will go out in early spring 2008.

FRUA-National Campaign

THANK YOU! The National Board of Directors of FRUA wishes to thank all who generously donated to the recent $10,000 match campaign. With your help, FRUA received a total of $37,369.29 in donations. This is an amazing amount that will be put to use sponsoring many Orphanage Support projects.
Among the projects to be sponsored, a donation will be made to MiraMed in Russia to help them to expand their “Miy Sami” (“We Can Do It”) newspaper project. This project is part of MiraMed’s “Listening to the Children” Initiative. The “Miy Sami” newspaper is written in part by children who live in the orphanages. The goal is to help increase the children’s communication with children in other orphanages who share similar experiences. MiraMed currently publishes and distributes this newspaper to 25 orphanages. The donation by FRUA, along with the help of others, will help MiraMed expand the newspaper’s reach to 100 orphanages.
Additionally, your donations to this match campaign will be used to continue FRUA’s Playground Project by building a playground in Valcea County, Romania. This playground will benefit 24 children who are being transferred from an institution setting to 2 family-style houses. The playground will be sited in a garden between the two houses. This playground will provide developmental stimulation and play for these 24 children, as well as many more children who will reside in these homes in the future. Look for updated pictures on frua.org in the fall following the installation.
Remember that even though the match is over, you can still donate to FRUA’s Orphanage Support Program. Every dollar donated helps to improve the lives of children who remain in the orphanages.
Whatever it takes.
Your donations go directly to programs that put a smile on the faces of orphaned children in Eastern Europe. The Orphanage Support Program puts your donations to good use from building playgrounds for orphans, to funding repair projects in orphanages, to donating desparately needed goods, to paying the salaries of staff at MiraMed's Centers for Social Adaptation in Russia who work with emancipated orphans. Please join us in continuining FRUA's mission of "Improving the lives of children" in Eastern Europe.

Remember, every dollar counts...Accept the challenge...Donate to FRUA today.
