Secondary School Student Exchange Programs

PIE - Pacific Intercultural Exchange FLEX - Future Leaders Exchange

The Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) was established in 1992 as the centerpiece of the NIS Secondary School Initiative with FREEDOM Support Act funding from the State Department and USAID. Its goal is to provide and opportunity for high school students from the countries of the former Soviet Union to experience life in a democratic society in order to promote democratic values and institutions in Eurasia.

For the seventh consecutive year, PIE-USA was identified by the United States Department of State as one of an elite group of organizations chosen to administer the FLEX program.

Humanitarian Aid Programs

Children of Chernobyl

The United States Charitable Fund is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide respite and relief to the children affected by the Chernobyl Nuclear explosion of 1986 by bringing them to America each summer. The children are in the U.S.A. for 6 to 8 weeks between late June and early August. The exact dates vary from year to year. The Fund pays for the children the first year with the host family providing airfare on return visits. The host family will need to provide clothing for the child for the summer.
