A Message from a local Generation S member:

Dear Western Pennsylvanians:

The American Stroke Association is committed to
hiring a shuttle to get survivors to DC for free.

All meals that day are provided. It's really not stressful. And we are shuttled around capitol Hill, so it's not physically taxing. I, too, will be going. If you are interested please e-mail me and we'll talk about details!

P.S. The American Stroke Association has offered to pay for hotel rooms for attending survivors. This was done in order that we all could attend the big breakfast the morning of the Lobby Day. Remember your caregiver can accompany you! S-o-o-o-o hop on the bus! We'll be a team on the attack for stroke! Email me soon, the deadline is coming up fast!

Thanks so, JE

A little more about lobby day:

It's that time of year again - Lobby Day.
Lobby Day is April 28th and 29th in Washington DC
and we would like you to attend.

I cannot thank you enough for you help and attendance in past lobby days.

Over the past 5 years, your efforts at Lobby Day has ensured:

  • Doubling of National Institute of Health funding
(from $13.7 billion to $26.5 billion)
  • Passage of the Stop Stroke Act in the Senate
  • The Rural AED Act ($26 million)
  • The Community AED Act ($30 million)

Pennsylvania and Delaware have benefited greatly from your efforts. Roughly, $3.5 million in grant money for AEDs and 10's of millions of dollars in research funds came from these and many other Lobby Day efforts.

I am pleased to announce that PA Senator Specter will be receiving an AHA award at the Lobby Day reception on March 28th for his work with doubling the NIH funding. Because of you, we have kept Sen. Specter vigilant in reaching that goal over the past five years.

A volunteer who attended the 2002 Lobby Day stated: "It was such a great day. I met volunteers from around the country and talked to my Congressman. He even agreed to support the Stop Stroke Act. I felt my one voice made a huge difference."

Another volunteer said: "It was great to see so many people take the time and speak up for a cause that effects almost all of. Together we made a statement to Congress."

The lives you may helped save could be your friends', family's or your own. Thank you for making a difference.
