The MOMS ClubŪ is a support group just for you, the mother-at-home of today, interested in the world around you, wanting a variety of activities for you and your children, and proud of your choice of at-home mothering for your family.

The International MOMS Club has over 2000 chapters in seven countries and we represent more than 100,000 members. The acronym MOMS stands for MOMS offering moms support. For more information about the International MOMS Club go to www.momsclub.org.

MEETINGS

All of our meetings and all but one of our activities are during the day, when at-home mothers need the support. At membership meetings we hold round-table discussions, invite guest speakers, and try to meet the needs of the membership at large. Chapter business is conducted at meetings, but we may also have holiday activities in lieu of speakers a few times a year. Attendance at General Meetings is not mandatory.

Left to Right: Child Safety, Fire Safety, Dog safety

Club members take turns babysitting so children may either stay with you during the meeting or go to the childrens' playroom and play.

ACTIVITIES

Monthly activities may include park days, trips to museums, as well as family or childrens' parties. We try to schedule a variety of activities to meet various interests of our moms and children and to provide fun for everyone.

Left to Right: Pet Store tour, Organic Farm tour, Broom Shop visit, Market visit

Kids' Craft

Left to Right: Visit to tree houses at the arboretum, cheese factory tour, our fair display

We encourage you and your children to get out and enjoy yourselves and to meet other members. It's the best way to get the support you need. There is no attendance requirement -- you may attend as many or as few activities as you choose. MOMS Club activities are for members only, but prospective members are welcome to attend either two general meetings or a general meeting and a Park-It before deciding to join. The MOMS Club will also sponsor Activity Groups for members with common interests. These change as members' interests change, but currently include children's playgroups, a swap group, a breakfast club, and a book club.

We all need a break from mothering at times which is why we also have a monthly MOMS Night Out. A typical MOMS Night Out might include restaurants, game night, or meeting in members' homes in an effort to get to know one another better and enjoy time "away".

BRING YOUR CHILDREN

We belive being a mother shouldn't isolate you, so you may bring your children with you to every event. Although children rarely accompany mothers to MOMS Night Out, it is not uncommon for a mom or two to have an infant along. You don't have to bring children to attend our events, but if you do, please remember, you are responsible for your child's safety and behavior. Feel free to nurse at our meetings. We are all mothers and many of us have nursed our own children. If your baby becomes fussy, please be considerate of any speakers and move into the children's playroom until your child has quieted.

DUES

Our dues are $20 per year and pay for the purchase of your membership pin, the chapter dues that are paid to International MOMS Club, speaker fees, supplies, mailing costs, newsletter publication and printing costs, and various other expenses that come with running a club. All officers and group coordinators are volunteers and are not paid for any services. We encourage all moms who need support to join and if the fee will cause a hardship, please talk with the President or Treasurer and she will be happy to assist you. Don't let money be the reason you don't join.

WELCOME NEWCOMERS

The MOMS Club of Garden Spot formed in March 2005. Although some of us have lived here for years and are experienced mothers, many of us are new to the area or new to motherhood. We look forward to meeting new faces and hearing new ideas and would love to have you join us! To contact us, email us at gardenspotmoms@hotmail.com.
