The MOMS Club® of Garden Spot was formed in 2005 by five members of what was then known as MOMS Club® of Honey Brook, now called MOMS Club® of Twin Valley. In early fall 2004 a notice was posted at the Elanco library inviting anyone who was interested to come to a meeting about forming a local MOMS Club. It had been posted by a MOMS Club member from out of the area who had just moved to the Elanco school district and was disappointed to find no local chapter here. A Honey Brook MOMS Club member and another mom responded and met with the mom who had posted the notice. The three decided that it would be best to join Honey Brook and then “sister” off a new chapter for the New Holland area. Two other moms from the Honey Brook chapter who also lived in Elanco school district joined to help form the MOMS Club of Garden Spot. (Elanco high school is called Garden Spot HS, Garden Spot is also an older name for Elanco School District.) All five were eager to have a local chapter in the school district where they lived. We received our official charter in January of 2005. A couple of planning meetings were held with planning assistance from MOMS Club® of Ephrata and financial assistance from MOMS Club of Honey Brook. Our first official Open House was held on March 9th 2005, hosted by the five founding members and MOMS Club of Honey Brook. We have been meeting ever since. We would like to thank our MOMS Club sisters in Twin Valley and Ephrata for supporting us and helping this chapter to come into being.
