HOW TO JOIN

The 2011-2012 International board theme "MAKING THE LEAP TO REMARKABLE" truly exemplifies the new International President,Tamra Goodall,CAP-OM, view. The the theme for next year, "Making The Leap to the Remarkable isn't a destination, it's a journey," says President Goodall. "This encapsulates the vision that our association has been working towards."
Thinking about the upcoming year, President Goodall is excited to be president. She's looking forward to working with the board. She plans to continue the journey to remarkable by facilitating a cohesive team for the purpose of making IAAP extraordinary.
I find it fitting that the 2011-2012 board theme this year is Making the Leap to Remarkable. Let’s all decide today to move beyond the “common year” and make this a year to remember—a year to be remarkable.

We can band together in "Making the Leap to Remarkable" by getting enthused and committed to the 70/70 Membership Campaign. During our 70th anniversary year, new professional members can sign up for IAAP membership at the international, chapter and division level all for only $70. That’s only if the chapter and division they want to join choose to participate.
By chapters and divisions banding together, signing up and committing to be a part of this, we can grow our membership! Members are what make IAAP a great association. And IAAP is what makes great admins. Share this message with each of your members. Encourage each of them to bring new members into the association. More members equal strong chapters and divisions. We’ve compiled a 70/70 FAQ from questions the board is getting on the new program. We’ve also created a 70/70 flyer you can give to members to get them excited about the program. These are located in the web community. You will have to log in to view them.

This is a part of Carol Lundgren,CAP-OM message in the November newsletter. We’re not quite halfway through the year, but it’s time to start thinking about the Division Annual Meeting and election of officers. There is an article in this newsletter from Nominations Committee Chair Peggy Rhone, CAP, calling for nominations. With my term ending, there will be an opening in the Western Council. The vacant position on the division board will be that of Secretary. Juanita Mort, CAP-OM, as President-elect, will automatically move into the presidency. Maria Carney, CAP,AIS will be running for President-elect; Deb Feinberg, CAP-OM will be running for Vice President; and Leslie Pioro, CAP will be running for a second term as Treasurer. The Pennsylvania Division has a wonderful succession plan, which has been a model for many other divisions, chapters, and even International. While the offices of treasurer, secretary, vice president, and president-elect are open to any division member, not just the incumbents, the concept of succession planning is that officers start as either secretary or treasurer and succeed to president, gaining knowledge and experience along the way. For more information on serving as a division officer, go to the Pennsylvania Division web community, Division Doings, PA Division Newsletters, and in the September 2010 edition of Your Division Connections, there is an article titled “Responsibilities and Benefits of a Division Officer.” If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or your chapter mentor.

Twelve of the 17 "Making the Leap to Remarkable". – have completed criteria 1 toward Chapter of Excellence and many have even completed criteria 2. The main goal of the division this year is to increase membership and I congratulate those chapters who have added new members to their roster. Even if your chapter is not participating in the Pathways to Excellence program, I encourage you to achieve criteria 3 – hold at least one Membership Drive. I believe the best way to gain members is to get the word out – to invite admins to a chapter meeting and give personal testimonials. We need to tell our story and let other administrative professionals know what a great organization IAAP is. If all chapters gain members this year, we will truly be "Making the Leap to Remarkable".

Clear-Penn Chapter Will Celebrate its 65th Anniversary in June 2013
