***JR. BUCKHORN NEWS****** 9/10//09 This Sunday’s Game is HOME vs. WAYNE HIGHLAND STINGERS Donations for the Concession Stand would be Greatly Appreciated. We are in need of: hot dog & hamburger rolls, Baked Goods, Water, Soda, Gatorade, Ketchup & Mustard. Players should wear their home uniform (purple jersey w/ white pants) and should report to the Wallenpaupack Stadium as follows: D-TEAM @ 4:00PM C-TEAM @ 4:30PM B-TEAM @ 5:30PM *cheerleaders - check with your coach as you will be practicing prior to the games HOMECOMING -next Saturday, Sept. 20th. Those graduating up to the next level of play/cheer next year will be presented medals prior to the start of C and B games. Flag Football Exhibition Game – rescheduled to Oct. 4, 2009 All players and cheerleaders are encouraged to wear their purple jerseys/cheer vests to school every Friday for team spirit in support of the Buckhorns. This has been a long standing tradition. be turned in on MONDAY on the Gazebo.

. TURF RULES – WATER ONLY, NO Gatorade, no gum
, NO sunflower seeds, NO food, NO EXCEPTIONS.
This also applies to the track area where the cheerleaders are.


1st Official Game of the Season this SATURDAY
AUG. 15th at home
against the Old Forge Blue Devils…
Baked goods,
coke/sprite/Gatorade/water,
any type of individually wrapped snack
such as a box of little debbies or a box of frito lay chips,
ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce,
sugar, powdered creamer, coffee,
hot chocolate mix, hot dog rolls, hamburger rolls,
and napkins are needed.

ALL FOOTBALL PLAYERS
are required to drop off an item at the concession stand
when they arrive.

. Players should wear their home uniform
(PURPLE JERSEY W/ WHITE PANTS)
Players and cheerleaders should report to
the Wallenpaupack Stadium as follows:
  • D-TEAM @ 4:00PM -*cheerleaders @ 4:00pm
  • C-TEAM @ 4:30PM -*cheerleaders @ 5:00pm
  • B-TEAM @ 6:00PM -*cheerleaders @ 6:30pm


      Keep in mind that the Concession Stand does not run itself –
      volunteers are needed, see Therese Blau
      to sign up for a time to help.

      Proceeds from the concession stand are
      very important as they are used to pay
      for the required services associated
      with using the school premises, such as
      janitor and security, as well as the cost of
      the official referees for the day.

      Please support your concession stand and lend a hand.


      Wallenpaupack School Grounds are SMOKE FREE –
      violators are subject to fines up to $250 –

      The monthly Board of Directors Meeting is
      scheduled for next week after practice
      on either Tuesday or Wednesday,
      depending on which day there will be a quorum.
      Check on the Gazebo if you plan to attend.



      SCRIMMAGE THIS SATURDAY, AUGUST 6TH
      has been CANCELLED.


      Monday, AUGUST 10th – 6 PM -
      Pictures- The photographer is scheduled to be at the park for pictures,
      this will take place during practice.
      EVERYONE MUST REPORT TO THEIR COACH - TEAMS WILL GO TO THE PHOTOGRAPHER ACCORDINGLY.
      Football players should wear their WHITE JERSEY and PURPLE PANTS;
      bring a practice jersey with you for after pictures.
      Rain/makeup date has been changed to Monday, August 17th

      Wednesday, August 12th – SCRIMMAGE AT VALLEY VIEW PRACTICE FIELD-
      players should arrive at the valley view field by 5:30pm –
      directions are: Take the new Casey Highway Rte 6 and get off exit 3, Jessup.
       Go down the hill which is Rte 247 North.
       At the first stop sign by the Cancer Center, stay straight;
      don't follow 247 which goes left.
       Continue down the hill to the army tank on the left
      – the field is behind the army tank.
      This is Jessup Memorial Field, Hill St., Jessup, PA.

      Updated Game schedules are available on the Gazebo

      • Football Weigh-ins are scheduled for TUESDAY, AUGUST 4TH, 2009 during practice,

      all NEW players (and anyone who did NOT play last year) must bring the following:
      • 1. an original birth certificate (for verification)
      • 2. a copy of the birth certificate for the coach’s book, and
      • 3. a small photo for the coach’s book.

      Players should report to their coach and teams will be weighed in accordingly.
      Players should wear their PURPLE GAME JERSEYS.

      • Jr. Buckhorns are currently seeking ads for the yearly program book.
      If you own a business or know of someone who would like to place an ad,
      please pickup a donation request letter at the gazebo for pricing.
      SHOUT OUT forms are also available.
      Deadline for all ads is August 6th, 2009.

      • SPIRIT WEAR - is available for sale
      on the Gazebo while supplies last.

      • Friday, AUGUST 7, 2009 is TEAM NIGHT
      at the YANKEE WILKES-BARRE PNC STADIUM.
      Tickets are $15 ea. and available on the Gazebo for purchase.
      Game time is 7pm. The Jr. Buckhorn Cheerleaders will be
      performing a post-game routine.
      Ticket price includes: Group Seat, Dinner Buffet,
      In-game recognition on scoreboard,
      Post Game Fireworks, hat and program.

      Working the concession stand is a mandatory parent obligation.
      Therese Blau will be setting up schedules;
      please make arrangements to come early or stay late for one home game,
      you do not have to work while your child is playing.
      Baked goods, paper products (napkins, paper plates, 12oz hot cups),
      coke/sprite/Gatorade/water, ketchup,
      mustard, sugar, creamer, coffee, hot chocolate,
      and hot dog & hamburger rolls are needed.
      Donations can be dropped off to Therese Blau during practice
      on the Gazebo or at the concession stand when you arrive at the game.

      • Tricky Tray Baskets are DUE and can be
      turned in to Cindy Samson on the Gazebo.
      Be sure to tag your basket with your child’s name and team
      so proper credit is given.

      • The Jr. Buckhorns are collecting
      monetary donations for the children of Holly Steffens
      who tragically drown in Lake Wallenpaupack a few weeks ago.
      Donations, in a sealed envelope marked “Steffens family”,
      can be turned in on the Gazebo.
      Members of the family have been involved with the Jr. Buckhorns for many years,
      and we would like to help to them in their time of need
      Any donation is greatly appreciated.

      WBS Yankees vs. LHV Iron Pigs
      Friday August 7th, 2009
      Game time 7:00pm
      $15.00 per Ticket
      Here's what's included:
      Free Yankees cap.
      Each member of our group will receive a FREE $18 SWB Yankees cap.
      FREE Game Program.
      Each member of our group will receive a FREE Play Ball game program.
      Jr. Buckhorn's Name in Lights.
      Will be displayed on the replay board during the game.
      Post Game Fireworks
      Wallenpaupack Jr. Buckhorns Cheerleaders
      will perform immediately following the game before the fireworks
      All-You-Can-Eat Buffet.
      From the moment the gates open,
      we'll be treated to a buffet of ballpark cuisine.
      Hot dogs, burgers, grilled chicken, water and soda will be
      available for 2 1/2 hours. (6:00pm - 8:30pm).
      There's also a condiment and topping area, so you can
      prepare your meal just the way you like it !!!!

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION ...

THE JUNIOR BUCKHORNS ARE A NON-PROFIT YOUTH ORGANIZATION
ORIGINALLY FORMED IN 1997 AS THE NEWFOUNDLAND BLACK BEARS -
WITH MONETARY AND EQUIPMENT ASSISTANCE FROM THE WAYNE HIGHLANDS STINGERS.


IN 2004, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FELT THAT IT WAS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE LEAGUE
TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE TEAM TO THE JUNIOR BUCKHORNS,
SINCE THE PARTICIPANTS ENCOMPASS THE WALLENPAUPACK AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT.

THE JUNIOR BUCKHORNS ORGANIZATION IS ONE
OF TWELVE MEMBERS IN THE ALL COUNTY CONFERENCE (ACC) JUNIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE,
WHICH GOVERNS THE RULES OF PLAY AND COMPETITION BETWEEN THE TEAMS.

A SEVEN MEMBER BOARD COORDINATES EACH SEASON FOR THE JR. BUCKHORNS,
WITH PUBLIC MEETINGS HELD ON A MONTHLY BASIS,
TO CONDUCT THE MANY FACETS OF OPERATING A NON-PROFIT YOUTH ORGANIZATION.
