Welcome to Mahanoy Area Elementary PTO
Hello Parents,
We would like to welcome you to the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). We have much to offer to our children and we need your help and support in doing so.
The goal of the PTO at Mahanoy Area is to build a strong relationship with the parents and teachers within the elementary school. The PTO holds monthly meetings where we discuss how we can help the whole student body. We participate with Meet the Teacher Night, supply pencil boxes and swim bags for our Kindergartners, and provide goodies for the Fall Festivities. Each student also receives a gift for his or her birthday and we make sure that every student has an opportunity to receive a yearbook and are able to attend the annual class fieldtrip. These are just a few of the ways PTO touches every child.
None of this would be possible without the strong support of our PTO.
We invite you to become a member. Our membership fee is just $2.00!!! Please join and participate in all that your $2.00 buys and your schedule permits. This is a great way for you as parents to interact with your child's school and participate in a few of their "special" days.

PTO FUNDRAISER PICKUP DATE 11/17/09
What does the MAE PTO do?
* We make sure every Kindergarten student has a pencil box filled with the basic school essentials on the first day of school.
* We give each teacher & staff member a yearly planner.
* We hold monthly meetings with the exception of December & January due to holidays and weather.
* We attend “Meet the Teacher” night and provide the refreshments and cookies.
* We run fundraisers from Kick-off to processing orders to delivery of the items.
* We pay for the children’s Fall Festival parties by providing them with fruit/vegetable trays along with juice boxes and pretzels.
* We provide Mrs. Peca the funds to decorate the library for the month of October. With those funds, a special treat is purchased for each child.
* We provide each child with a new pencil each & every month.
* We coordinate a visit from Santa! We also give every child a candy cane and small gift.
* We team up with Mahanoy Downtown Inc. for Santa’s Workshop. We help run the event and provide students with a $2.00 voucher towards their purchases.
* We give each 1st grader a new swim bag.
* We remember every student’s birthday with a gift. Kindergarten received a lunch bag while 1st through 4th received a small backpack.
* We help with PSSA rewards as needed.
* We paid for 2nd, 3rd, & 4th graders to explore the Mobile Ag Lab.
* We had Porcupine Pat come & present for the Kindergarten and 1st grade students.
* We totally fund the Yearbook.
* We put together a Relay for Life team so that our school is well represented for such a worthy cause.
* We pay for field trips throughout the year.
* We volunteer our time and energy for each & every child!
This year the PTO will purchase a magnet for each child for their birthday. Children with birthday's in the summer months will receive their magnet in May.
