INTERNET RE-CHARTERING HAS ARRIVED AT
MINSI TRAILS COUNCIL

Please Click Here To View More Information About Internet Re-Chartering, Try Out the Tutorial and/or Re-Charter Online.

Our Registrar Charlie Chase wants to let you know that you must complete all 5 steps on the internet rechartering system to get your packet to be printed and submitted on Recharter day. According to Charlie, 10 units in other districts did not complete all 5 steps, but thought that they were rechartered because they completed some of the steps.

A NOTE FROM CHARLES CHASE ABOUT RE-CHARTERING

I had a question last evening about the “save” process as you move through the various steps.

There is no “save” button – it automatically saves the work as folks proceed through the process.

Please advise your units – especially those that have questions about this.

Further – we have been advised that the “tutorial “ is not working properly – should be fixed this weekend.

  • Ask that parents use all caps and/or block lettering.
  • Do not write additional notes on the council copy of the application.
  • Encourage parents to fill in bubbles instead of placing an “x” or a check mark on the questions with bubbles.
  • All information requested that involves numbers (such as a unit number, should be right justified).
Click Here to see the application with numbers that correspond to the notes below.

  1. Unit type must be indicated.

The majority of our new scouts come directly from the Webelos Program. Improving the Webelos-to-Scout Transition should be a key element of every Pack, Troop and District Plan.

The key factor in the Webelos-to-Scout Transition is establishing a working relationship and partnership between the Webelos Den, the Pack and the troop. This takes the teamwork of the Webelos Den Leader, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters and Unit Commissioners, as well as the District Committee.

Another key element is to make Webelos feel wanted by a Troop. The Webelos will be more confident and enthusiastic about his scouting future as he becomes more familiar wity the Scouts and Scouters of the Troop he will be joining. One way this can be accomplished is to ensure the Webelos Den has a "Good" Den Chief. The Den Chief is your main "Recruiter" of Webelos into a Troop. By his actions and attitude, he can help create a positive atmoshere about the Troop and Scouting. Another method is Troop involvement with the Webelos Den. This can be accomplished by inviting the Den to several Scout events, such as a Troop meeting, a hike and an overnight camp (with main emphasis on the Den). Of course, come relationships already exist between Packs and Troop. These relationships should be renewed and strengthened each year.

Please check-out the following checklists to ensure a smooth Webelos-To-Scout Transition:

Questions and Comments should be directed to your Unit Commissioner.
