Welcome to the Home for Moraine Trails Venturing on the Web...
So…what is Venturing?
Venturing is a division of Scouting for 14-20 year old young men AND young women.
Venturing crews can be found in all three districts of the council and more are starting every year.
Venturing crews can focus on any one of a number of areas of interest
– high adventure, sports, religious life and community service, arts and hobbies, or Sea Scouting
Venturing is an adventure on many levels. Yes, many Venturing Crews conduct high adventure trips - backpacking, white-water rafting, caving, rock climbing, shooting archery and firearms and the like.
But perhaps the greater adventure is that the Venturers themselves select the activities, plan them and implement their plans. With a light touch from adult advisors and consultants, these young men and women take the responsibility for their own success.
Along with Outdoor programs, all Venturing Crews are encouraged to include Service, Citizenship, Fitness, Social, and Leadership related activities in their program year.
Not only can youth take leadership roles in their local crews, but they can run for office at the Council, Area, Region and National levels as well.
One thing that all Venturers have in common is that they agree to live by the Venturing Oath and Code:
As a Venturer, I promise to do my duty to God and help strengthen America, to help others, and to seek truth, fairness, and adventure in our world.
As a Venturer, I believe that America's strength lies in our trust in God and in the courage, strength, and traditions of our people.
I will, therefore, be faithful in my religious duties and will maintain a personal sense of honor in my own life.
I will treasure my American heritage and will do all I can to preserve and enrich it.
I will recognize the dignity and worth of all humanity and will use fair play and goodwill in my daily life.
I will acquire the Venturing attitude that seeks truth in all things and adventure on the frontiers of our changing world.
