UPDATE! Training Schedule...

Youth Leaders:
Each crew should conduct Venturing Leadership Skills Course often enough to keep all your current and aspiring youth leaders trained on the leadership skills of Vision, Communication, Organization and Synergy. The syllabus is available from the Council Service Center (724-287-6791). It might need to be ordered so allow a few weeks for delivery.

Please contact the McKeevers (mckeever@zoominternet.net) if your crew would like help conducting the Venturing Leadership Skills Course. We have the materials and are willing to travel.

Adult Leaders:

ALL adult Venturing leaders should complete Youth Protection and Venturing Leader Specific training as soon as possible after becoming a Venturing leader. Youth Protection training is available on line at www.morainetrails.org. Please contact the McKeevers (mckeever@zoominternet.net) if your crew would like to schedule a special Venturing Leader Specific training session for your crew. We have the materials and are willing to travel.

BOTH Youth and Adult Leader Training will be offered at Council Training events in the fall.
- October 4 - Worthington PA
- November 1 - Scout University at BC3 in Butler PA
- November 22 - Camp Agawam (New Castle PA)

Details on location and time will follow as they become available. For now - reserve one of these dates on your crew calendar for this fall. Call the MTC Council Service Center at 724-287-6791 to reserve a space for you and your crew.

After completing your Leader Specific training, please consider signing up for Wood Badge for the 21st Century. A course will be held in Moraine Trails Council in August 17-22, 2009. Course fee is expected to be $235 for six days of training including meals and materials. See www.mtcwoodbadge.org for details.

Quest Comes to Camp Bucoco! AGAIN!

WOW! Over 300 Venturers and Venturing adult leaders converged on Camp Bucoco April 11-13. It was the annual Area 4 Quest event. Venturers from Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania had a great time.

Climbing and rappelling; shotgun, black powder, slingshots, 3-D archery and tomahawk throwing; parties; games; canoeing; movies; LAN party; and plenty of food – what more could a red-blooded American teenager ask for? (See photos page)

While the adult leaders were welcome to participate with the youth (and many did) there was a running coffee klatsch at the Preston Center where leaders from four states shared ideas for running a crew, recruiting members, financing the crew, starting a Venturing Officer’s Association and other topics.

If you didn’t make it – you really missed out. Don’t fail to attend the next Quest April 17-19, 2009. No excuses – it is coming back to Camp Bucoco for one more time in 2009 before it starts moving around Western Pennsylvania.

There is a planning meeting for the 2009 Quest on October 18 at Camp Bucoco from 10AM to 2PM. Feel free to show up and offer your ideas or other assistance.
