UPDATE! Training Schedule...

Youth Leaders:
Each crew should conduct Venturing Leadership Skills Course often enough to keep all your current and aspiring youth leaders trained on the leadership skills of Vision, Communication, Organization and Synergy. The syllabus is available from the Council Service Center (724-287-6791). It might need to be ordered so allow a few weeks for delivery.

Please contact the McKeevers (mckeever@zoominternet.net) if your crew would like help conducting the Venturing Leadership Skills Course. We have the materials and are willing to travel.

Adult Leaders:

ALL adult Venturing leaders should complete Youth Protection and Venturing Leader Specific training as soon as possible after becoming a Venturing leader. Youth Protection training is available on line at www.morainetrails.org. Please contact the McKeevers (mckeever@zoominternet.net) if your crew would like to schedule a special Venturing Leader Specific training session for your crew. We have the materials and are willing to travel.

After completing your Leader Specific training, please consider signing up for Wood Badge for the 21st Century. A course will be held in Moraine Trails Council in August 17-22, 2009. Course fee is expected to be $235 for six days of training including meals and materials. See www.mtcwoodbadge.org for details.

AVOA Summit Comes to Camp Bucoco! AGAIN!

For the second year, the Area 4 Venturing event was held at Camp Bucoco.

Climbing and rappelling; shotgun, black powder, slingshots, 3-D archery; parties; games; canoeing; movies; LAN party; and plenty of food – what more could a red-blooded American teenager ask for?

While the adult leaders were welcome to participate with the youth (and many did) there was a running coffee klatsch at the Preston Center where leaders from four states shared ideas for running a crew, recruiting members, financing the crew, starting a Venturing Officer’s Association and other topics.

If you didn’t make it – you really missed out. The next Summit will be held at Camp Mountain Run near Dubois PA April 16-18 2010. Put it on your calendar!!!
