News From Queen Ginger

We sent a check for $100 to the Butler Eagle for a project they are sponsoring to purchase duffel bags, with contents, for children being removed from their homes and placed in foster care
These children currently often use black garbage bags to pack their belongings

We gathered up over 400 toothbrushes & toothpaste tubes and thread & needles for El SalvadoreCarole Stoltz's daughter is working with a group there to teach the children (and adults) proper dental care and they have NO money for these supplies
We have used the money that Concordia gave us for our Sing-Along to help pay for postage

For Christmas 2009 we donated toys for foster children
We had two huge piles on tables at our party, plus stacks of toys under the tables!
We had about a hundred gifts for the children

Christmas 2010 was when we all donated purses with goodies inside (tissues, combs, gloves, etc) to donate to the Women's Shelter, to LIFE Butler County, and to Grapevine ladies
Everyone was delighted with their new purses for the holiday season
We collected 97 (NINETY SEVEN!) purses - thank you ladies!

Queen Lora is on the left

We mailed three boxes of craft supplies, beads, etc. to the red hat chapter in Kiev, Ukraine

Queen Lora sent this email:
We have just received your packages. It is wonderful stuff. Such beautiful materials. My women are very grateful. They have already started to work on gifts for Easter for children. For us it is great help. I thank the God for your open heart

We mailed a check for $100 to the Red Hat Chapter in Kiev, Ukraine, as per the discussion and vote at our Christmas Party
These young women are working very diligently in their community to help get pregnant girls off the streets and they also visit orphanages and take gifts to the children
This donation will mean a lot to them and $100 in US currency is about 5 times as much in Kiev

Lora, the red hat queen sent us the following email "thank you"

Hi Ginger
I`m sorry for not writing you soon.
We had heavy time. For this time we had several meetings of club. We communicated and made cards and other presents for invalid children. I would want that women at a meeting forget about crisis.
It is very difficult to make a life of women in Ukraine cheerful. Most our women has now pension of 70 dollars. The food here became expensive. Women which have the one room apartment has pay 40 dollars for public utilities. To rent one room apartmant costs 300 dollars per month.
At a meeting I have made special Ukrainian meal and also have given women small gifts - chocolate.

Tell please how pass your meetings.
I also have one request. Maybe your club could send some crafts materials for sewing and ornaments.
Is that possible?
It can be beads, thread, that we can sew all on clothes for children and also on ornaments of gifts for women and children. In Ukraine such material is not present.
We wish to make 30 gifts for Easter.
Thanks for your friendship,
Lora,
