FALL BASEBALL FOR 2008

Fall Baseball rosters are full for the midget, and knee-hi age boys. There may be limited openings for biddy age players.

2008 Association Meetings at 8:00 PM at the Schadt Ave. Building.

  • Monday, November 17 (7:30 PM)

    Please come to the meeting to learn more about the organization.

    SAPPARA is an all-volunteer organization providing a safe and healthy environment for the youth of Whitehall and surrounding communities. We provide a range of facilities, organized sports and specialty activities for the youth and young at heart. The following are just some of the programs and activities provided SAPPARA:

    • Playground and recreational facilities
    • Organized baseball and softball
    • Yearly holiday party with live entertainment and a visit from Santa Claus bearing gifts for all kids
    • Yearly Easter egg hunt including prizes and candy - and a visit from the Easter Bunny
    • Community Center available for rentals
    • Youth dances including DJ and refreshments

    The SAPPARA organization is committed to the youth of our community. We strive to improve and expand every year.

    To participate in our organization, all you need to do is become a member. Easy, quick and only costs $15.00 per family. See our membership section for more details.

    Members registering for the 2008 season can download a 2008 Registration Form and bring the form to registration. Please also see the 2008 Registration section on the left side of this page for more information.

    MEMBERSHIP 

    SAPPARA MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS FOR 2008

  • SAPPARA is an all volunteer organization providing a safe and healthy environment for the youth of the Whitehall and surrounding communities. Anyone who wishes can become a member of the SAPPARA organization. Yearly membership fee has been increased to $15.00 per family per calander year. Membership entitles the entire family to partake in ALL SAPPARA sponsored parties and activities.

    To become a member, e-mail us in the comments section your name and address and we will send you the information for membership.

    Membership Meetings

    SAPPARA holds monthly membership meetings for the purpose of:

    • Setting direction for SAPPARA funds and directions
    • Organize additional programs for the membership base
    • Approval for capital expenditures, program changes, program additions, etc.
    • Anything that effects the SAPPARA membership

    SAPPARA membership meetings will be held the 3rd Monday of the month. Meetings start at 7:30 PM in the Zephyr Park building meeting room (except during baseball/softball season where meetings start at 8:00 PM APRIL - JULY). Please note the change in the meetings. ** Now 3rd Monday *** (used to be 2nd Monday) We have seen a lot of new faces at our last meetings but need to see more. We need more parents and community members to get involved. We have seen wonderful commitment from area residents helping the children of our community. We know the dedication and care is out there - please funnel some of that towards the organization and help us provide a better environment for our children. Meetings are open to the public (members and non-members) anyone and everyone is welcome to participate and get involved. **** There is not a December Meeting for SAPPARA

     
    EASTER EGG HUNT

    Annual Easter Egg Hunt

    Our yearly Easter Egg hunt for Children ages 1 to 11 and is scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 1:00 PM. The rain date is Sunday, Marcy 9 at 1:00 PM. This event is open to paid SAPPARA members and their families. The hunt will be held on the grounds of Schadt Avenue Park. Registration forms will be included in the February Newsletter.

    SAPPARA is looking for volunteers and coordinators for this year's Easter Egg hunt. If you are interested, please call the Schadt Avenue park number and leave a message - 610-799-2565.

      HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES

    Annual Holiday Party

    Held in the Zephyr Park Community Center, kids are treated to a year ending holiday party which provides:

    • Live Entertainment
    • Snacks
    • Drinks
    • Music
    • and a present delivered directly by Santa Clause.

    Volunteers are needed to be Santa's helpers and make this year's party the most memorbale yet. Come to our membership meeting.

    The party is free to all paid SAPPARA members' children and/or grand-children from 1 to 11 years old. Holiday party is at the Zephyr Park building.

    REGISTER BY NOVEMBER 14TH using our mail in registration form.

     
    BUILDING RENTALS

    The Zephyr Park Community Center building is available for rental. The building includes the following amenities:

    • Tables & Chairs
    • Handicap Accessible Parking & Bathroom
    • Kitchen ( No Stove or oven )
    • Large hall with room for 150+ people (may need additional tables and chairs

    Call the SAPPARA phone number and leave a message. Someone will get back to you. Available time slots go fast!

    For exact rental information, please call our community center at 610-799-2565. This is a non-smoking building.

      PLAYGROUND COMITTEE

    CONGRATULATIONS! SAPPARA now has an official playground committee and chairperson. The group is working together to plan for new playground equipment and to provide long term planning for a tot-lot. The team is also working with the township to apply for grants and funding through numerous public and private organizations.

    Your help is always appreciated. Come to one of our membership meetings if you want to steup-up and get involved with the future of our community.

     

    **** 2008 FIELD WORK PARTY *****

    The Annual Field Work Party will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon (weather permitting).

    We have five existing fields that need our yearly care, two batting cages that need our yearly setup, concession stand and other building items that must be completed.

    To get an idea of how much work there is, here is a sample of the items that need to be completed:

    • Batting Cage Nets Installed (2 cages)
    • Batting Cage shed cleanout and prep
    • Lime bag storage in shed (about 200 bags)
    • Field Box Cleanup
    • Field Box Lime stocking
    • Field Box misc stocking
    • Infield cleanup, patching, raking, hole filling, dragging dirt spreading, etc.
    • Outfield cleanup, patching, raking, dirt spreading, etc.
    • Field layout (home - bases - foul lines -- stringing and adjusting as necessary to make sure all lengths and dimensions are 100% exact to the inch) (2 fields)
    • Trash can cleanup and distribution (3 fields)
    • Building Maintenance (painting doors, checking bulbs, etc.)
    • Concession Stand Maintenance (cleanup, stocking, organizing, etc.)

      The more people who come out to help, the quicker everything will be ready for the kids ... Hope to see you there !!!
