As we are guessing, it could of been taken in 1918 at the funeral of Marion "Badger" Smock, our great grandfather. As Ed says, the "ladies" look like they all have handkerchiefs & of course everyone is dressed in black, & they don't look very "happy". Bottom row L to R...Betty, Liz (Elizabeth), Jake (our grandfather), Granny Smock (Sarah Jane), & (not sure of name could be Hannah. Top row L to R...Pete, Mance (Samantha), Frank, Georgiana, Glen, & Dink (Blanche). Hope I got these right! Picture could of been taken at house on Arch St. in Belle Vernon. We may have more pictures coming, I hope so. It is so moving to actually see faces of those who we only new mostly by name. Enjoy!" UPDATE - January 2, 2003 - Myra Dolence emailed me with the following clarifications to the photo: "Just to make a couple of things clear. The lady in the bottom row on the end is Aunt Hannah or Hahn as she was called. The fourth person in the top row is my grandmother and her name was Georgie - not Georgiana. I have been to Salt Lake City and looked up a number of things and her name is Georgie. Don't know why they names girls some of the names they did back then because I have Aunts named Jessie and Maggie." Thanks to Myra for the photo and update. If anyone has photos of Sam Smock, please let us know.
