WOCAV Board Meeting Minutes
Tuesday October 6,2009

Called to order : 6:30 pm by president Schmader

Those in attendance were:
George Schmader - President

Minutes of September meeting were approved as amended ( added Ty Ryen to those present )

Treasurer Report : beginning balance $1637.73
Income $40, exp $30 ending balance = $1647.73 approved

Old Business
Membership - Contacts with the 6 members not renewing got no responses. We remain at 56 memberships of which 19 are family
Woodland Owners BMP Conference November 21 @ PSU Four WOCAV member will be attending ,plus two from the Stewardship Committee (see previous minutes for names) Lee will check with Dennis Waldorf to see how our poster for the BMP Conf. is coming along
WOCAV Signs- Passed a sample around and asked for suggested changes. Thanks to Jane Schmader for her design and production work Signs will be available for members to buy when finished.

NEW BUSINESS
A tour of the Clarion Fiber Board Plant has been arranged by Dave Steward for Friday October 30 10:30 am The tour will take about 45 minutes. Hard hat are required so bring one if you have it. No open toed shoes The group will go to lunch following the tour
No Emerald Ash bore have been reported in Clarion County

PROGRAMS
The board thanked Layne and Travis for their leadership in conducting the tour of Layne’s Woodlot on September 26, “ WELL DONE”

October 17th - “Cutting as a propagation method for wildlife and aesthetics” will be the subject of a meeting at John and Bev Campbells The meeting will be mostly indoors from 9:00am till noon

January 14th - Dana Rizzo from Penn State will discuss Private Water Systems and Septic Systems at our January meeting schedule at the Bureau of Forestry building in Clarion. The session will be from 7:00-8:00 pm. There will be no fee or pre registration required

February 20th will be the joint meeting with the Clarion County Forest Stewardship Committee. Check he WOCAV web site for program details and registration fee’s ( www.thewocav.org/ ) Final arrangements are being made for the session to be at St.Michael’s Hall in Fryburg.

March 18th the program will feature Dave Duncan discussing Coyotes

April 10th Dave Jackson will conduct a Deer Density Workshop at Clear Creek State Forest

May - Trying to set up a Strip Mine Reclamation meeting

June 19th Annual Picnic at Joe and Barb Lowrie’s

ENDING DISCUSSION

Recycling at the Veolia Transfer Station was discussed . They take glass, plastic, aluminum and tin unsorted, just throw it in the dumpster. Cardboard can go in a separate dumpster

Dave announced that he and John Daugherty had been elected to the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Forestry Association
