Central Pennsylvania Woodlot Management Workshop
Energy in Your Forest

Penn State Cooperative Extension in cooperation with DCNR Bureau of Forestry and the Clearfield-Jefferson Counties Forest Stewardship Committee are pleased to be providing the 7th annual Central Pennsylvania Woodlot Management Workshop: Energy and Your Forest. It is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the McDonald Landscaping woodlot in Curwensville, Clearfield County. The workshop is scheduled from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Participants must be pre-registered by Monday, August 11th. A $15.00 fee is being charged per person to cover program costs.

If you are interested in learning how to manage a forest for timber and other values then this workshop is for you. The workshop will highlight the problems and solutions for managing a forest and where to get help. Information will be presented on such topics as woody biomass, forest certification, carbon trading, sustainability factors, and resources for private landowners. The afternoon session will be outdoors. It will highlight various forest management techniques used to enhance timber and wildlife values. Some of the topics include establishing regeneration, proper timber harvesting, invasive plants, timber stand improvement, regeneration, high grading, food plots, and gas well site reclamation.
