Troop 12's Most Recent Eagle Scout
Troop 12 has had many eagle scouts. Do you know what you must do to become an eagle scout? You must earn 21 merit badges of those 11 required Eagle Merit Badges and 9 others. You must plan out a project that consists of at least 100 hours of community service work. The scout orginizes every thing for the project such as, money, volunteers, supplies, and what he is going to do. It must help out thier community.

TROOP 12 - ALLENTOWN PA

Troop 12 meets at Asbury United Methodist church on Monday nights from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. We meet all year round and deliver a program actively engaged with the great outdoors. We live in a wonderful part of the country with many opportunities to be engaged in activities in the community and the outdoors. We camp or hike at least once each month and spend one week during the summer at a Boy Scout camp.

In the past few years we have:

  • canoe camped on the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers
  • hiked/camped in Gettysburg and Valley Forge
  • camped/visited Baltimore’s inner harbor (USGCG Taney, USS Torsk and the USS Constellation)
  • spent 10 days hiking the Rockies at the Boy Scout high adventure camp in Philmont, New Mexico
  • hiked parts of the Presidential range in the White Mountains of New Hampshire
  • camped in the snow at the North Valley District Snow Bound camporee
  • camped at Racefest Jambo - Nazareth Speedway and North Valley camporee
  • backpacked on the Appalachian Trail
  • skied or snowboarded as a troop
  • visited the local Coke bottling plant
  • attended summer camp at Camp Minsi, Trexler, Ockanickon and Hidden Valley
  • participated in North Valley District First Aid meets
  • winter camped at Netimis – rewarding indoor campout with outdoor snow activities
  • camped at the Pines Barron’s State Park in New Jersey
  • learned about and rode state of the art people movers
  • camped at Annapolis Naval Academy and West Point Military Academy
  • build trebuchets and catapults for an annual Punkin Chuckin Extravaganza
  • plus much much more ...
  • See our Troop 12 Camping and Outings page for more details and pictures.

We currently have 30 scouts in the troop and have a trained youth leadership team and a trained adult staff. Troop 12 has earned the Boy Scout National Quality Unit Award for the last 10 years.

The Boy Scout program is designed to build desirable qualities of character, to train in the responsibilities of citizenship, and to develop personal fitness. Boy Scouting recognizes the importance of religious faith and duty. It is nonsectarian and leaves it to the scout, his family, and religious leaders to give instruction. Asbury and Troop 12 leaders will offer the “God and Life” program later this year for scouts who are in grades 9-12.

You may contact our scoutmaster Brian Harman for more information or utilize the Contact Us Here section at the bottom of this page to submit a question.

Troop 12 is sponsored by Asbury United Methodist Men. We appreciate the opportunity to use the Asbury facilities and perform service projects for the church. We recently helped collect the Christmas decorations during Dehanging of the Greens, helped clean-up after the Bazaar, raked leaves, and our Eagle Scout candidates have had projects that reconditioned rooms, expanded the playground area, and other projects for the community outside Asbury.

If you are between the ages of 11 to 18 and adventure, learning, challenge, and responsibility interest you, contact someone from our troop or come visit us on a Monday night.

If you want to see more history and information on Troop12 - visit out Troop 12 History Page for more details.
