Whitehall-Coplay PTO

Welcome! Welcome to the website of the Whitehall-Coplay PTO. Our PTO in a parent teacher organization that covers the entire district. Most school districts in the Lehigh Valley are spread out and each school has its own Parent Teacher Organization. Here at Whitehall-Coplay we have chosen to have one Parent Teacher Organization that covers children and families in grades K-12. The benefit of this is that if you have children at varying grade levels you only have to join one organization which means fewer meetings, fewer papers coming home and hopefully less confusion! Please consider getting involved in some way. The PTO receives no funding from the district which means every penny we have to spend we must earn with fundraisers and membership dues. We have an operating budget of over $60,000. The district counts on the PTO to provide many things to the students such as field trips, agendas/planners, Book Fairs, Children's Day and many other activities. Take a moment to think about how you can get involved in your child's school!

HELP US IMPROVE MEETING ATTENDANCE:

Our PTO has a strong membership with very active parent volunteers and dedicated teacher representatives. However, monthly meeting attendance is relatively low. You may miss out on having your voice heard when it is needed most. Our members are the heart of our organization; they determine the course of action we need to take!

How to become involved:

Read, fill out and return the volunteer form your child brings home the first day of school.
Be a Volunteer! Consider volunteering at one of our schools. Volunteering doesn't always mean actually coming in to the schools during the week. There are jobs that can be done in the evenings or at home. Many people volunteer for the special days like Children's Day or Field Day but we need volunteers to do all kinds of things!
Join the PTO! Turn in the membership form that your child brings home. Your $8 per family dues goes directly to programs for your child!
HELP WANTED: PTO is strictly volunteer positions and if we don't have individuals to dedicate themselves to their students; then the students will miss out on programs, fun events, field trips, and supplies.
Parent Teacher Organization
P. a father or a mother. A protector or guardian.
T. a person who teaches or instructs, esp. as a profession; instructor.
O. a group of persons organized from some end or work; association: a nonprofit organization.

2011-2012 PTO Board

The Whitehall Coplay PTO consists of an Executive Board which is the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary. The remainder of the board is composed of committee chairpersons and faculty. Committees include Fundraisers, Spirit Sale, Hot Dog Wagon, Holiday Party and Children’s Day to name a few. There are many others, some of which have openings.

2011-2012 PTO Board Meetings

The PTO meets monthly to discuss upcoming events and report on the previous months occurrences. If you think you would be interested hearing more about what is going on in the district you are welcome to attend any PTO meeting. Attending a meeting does not commit you to any involvement!

All meetings are open to the public. They occur on the third Tuesday of each month and rotate schools. These meetings start promptly at 7pm and usually last a little over an hour.

Volunteering and Membership

Even though the Membership Drive has ended for this school year, it is not too late to get involved. There are still MANY activities that will be happening in the second half of the school year. To make these activities happen we need VOLUNTEERS! If you are interested in helping out please email the webmaster at bottom of page and include which school you are interested in helping out at. Your information will be forwarded to the volunteer coordinator in that specific school and your name will be placed on the volunteer list. Please understand that you may not be called for everything. We may need 40 bakers for an event and we have a list of over 200 people willing to bake so the coordinators try to spread it out so that the same parents are not always doing all the work.

Fundraising

Our Fall Fundraisers are now complete and were overall successful! Our ongoing fundraiser is Market Day so please consider supporting it. (See information below.)Another option to support the PTO throughout the year is by visiting www.QSP.com which is the site for the magazine fundraiser. This was a Middle School Fundraiser but anyone can support the PTO by purchasing magazines online. The prices are comparable to the advertised magazine rates. The PTO receives a 40% profit from these sales. Also coming in the Spring will be our Spirit Sale which will offer Whitehall apparel and other items for students to show their school spirit! Forms will be going home in late winter/early spring to place orders.

Market Day

Market Day is a great hit!

We are continuing this “fundraiser” this year. If you haven't tried Market Day, check it out online. Market Day offers a huge variety of frozen foods that are similar in cost to shopping at the grocery store or warehouse club. You can place your order online at www.marketday.com. You can find us under Whitehall-Coplay Schools PTO or our account number is 22383. In just a four years we have raised $46,502 in profit from Market Day! Please consider checking out the website or watching for a Market Day flier that your child will be bringing home.
