In 2005, WOSA established its Scholarship Award Program. It is available to high school seniors and college students from Bedford and Fulton counties who intend to pursue a degree in Forest Resources.

Career opportunities include Forester, Community Forester, Forest Hydrologist, Wildlife Biologist, Wood Products Professionals, Fisheries Biologist, Herpetologists (Reptiles) and Wood Chemist.

Interested students complete an application which includes their grade average, SAT scores and school and community activities in which they’ve participated. They also write an essay explaining why they are interested in pursuing a career in forestry.

Past WOSA Scholarship recipients:

2008 Scott Cessna, Everett Area HS

2008 Koby Cutchall, McConnellsburg HS

2007 Adam Miller, Southern Fulton HS

2006 Dolan Moser, Claysburg-Kimmel HS

Applications are available at all area high schools and through WOSA.
