Welcome to the Aquidneck Island Horseman's Asso, Inc.
The Aquidneck Island Horseman's Association has been a vital part of the larger horse community of the state of Rhode Island. The club started in 1982 for the purpose of furthering the interests of the horse owners on the island but grew to include the surrounding towns of Tiverton, Little Compton and Bristol among others. Some members even hail from outside of the state of Rhode Island. AIHA educates its members on trail etiquette and safety for all trail users.
An Event which has proven to be the club's largest fund raiser is the annual Hunter Pace which is held every October. Proceeds raised have enabled AIHA to donate funding to a wide variety of causes; such as, Land Preservation, Natural Disasters, Animal Abuse to name a few. Other gatherings include trail rides and cookouts to name a few.
Business meetings are held every other month and anyone interested may attend.
Our next AIHA Business meeting will be held Wednesday, May 21st 2008, at Anthony Farm in Portsmouth R.I. Agnes and Dan Keating will be hosting a “Polo Demonstration” for members of AIHA. Matthew Fonseca and Delora Burner have organized this event. Members will have an opportunity to sit on polo ponies themselves to get a “feel” of the equipment used for the game. Event will start 6pm.
A business meeting will be held prior to the demo. Menu for the evening will be pot luck. Bring your favorite dish to share with friends, a few chairs or a blanket, and your favorite bottle of wine. Then sit back and enjoy!!
Anthony Farm is located at 2503 East Main road. Dirt road entrance is on the right hand side before the Shell Gas Station near Clements Market, if you are coming from Newport way.
Loie Kessler will be marking the entrance. In case of rain, the event will be held at the farm of Mike Waters.

Our 20th Annual Hunter Pace **Pre-event Information**. We celebrate our 20th anniversary of our well known hunter pace on October 5, 2008. AIHA is pleased to introduce the Sakonnet Greenway Trail to our course this year, which eliminates road riding and connects to other lovely properties which make this event truly unique.
A HUNTER PACE is a cross-country ride with a partner over a marked course of various terrain.
It will include jumps, all optional with go arounds. The distance is approx. 8 - 10 miles. The perfect time is the Ideal time which is determined prior to the event. The committee and volunteers take pride in offering a quality event for the local equestrian community on beautiful grounds. Enjoy the day and experience a canter along lovely private properties.
