ASHAWAY PTO

Through the cooperative effort of Ashaway Elementary School Students, Parents, PTO, Teachers & Principal

The Kids Grow program was started with the following objectives in mind:

1. To get the students interested in gardening.
2. To educate the students on where their food comes from and how it's grown.
3. To teach students the nutritional value of eating home grown vegetables.
4. To show students the proper techniques for starting, planting and maintaining a garden.
5. To teach students the proper way to start, maintain and utilize a compost system.
6. To give the students a sense of communitee and pride by working together in the school garden and giving the produce created through their hard work to others in need of food.

Harvest to Date - A total of 161 lbs of veggies was delivered to Wood River Health Services and distributed to the community last year !
