Due to intermitten showers, the 2009 Memorial Day Ceremony was held indoors at the Chester War Memorial building. It began at 1200 with a welcome and introductions by Retired Major Charlton Blanks. The Chester County Devil Dogs Chaplain, John C. (Bullit) Killian, gave the opening prayer, followed by the presentation of the National Colors by the Chester JROTC. At this time, Junior Vice Commandant, Mr. Windy Winchester led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance with Evangelist Jackie Beatty Green singing God Bless America.

Special guest were County Supervisor Carlisle Roddey, Chester Mayor Mitch Foster, Chester Veterans Affairs Director Judy McWaters, DAV Commander Nathan Witt, American Legion Commander Dan Hendrix, Marine Corps League Commandant James Mayfield, VFW Commander Charlton Blanks, VFW Auxiliary Angie Blanks, DAV uxiliary Hope Stroud and American Legion Auxiliary Cindy Richardson.

All of the monuments were unveiled and wreaths were placed by local area Veterans follwed by Taps. The Reverend David Sealy gave the closing prayer.
