Nurses Organization of Veterans Affairs (NOVA) is a nationwide, voluntary organization composed of registered nurses employed by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Types of membership

"Active" Membership is open to any Registered Nurse currently employed full-time, part-time, and/or on intermittent status by the VA. Dues are $90 annually.

"Associate" Membership is open to any Registered Nurse retired from the VA. Dues are $50 annually.

"Honorary" Membership is awarded to a member or non-member who has rendered notable and outstanding service to the organization. Honorary membership is recommended to the Board by a member, and must be approved at any business meeting. There are no annual dues for an Honorary Member.

Benefits of membership at a local level

  • Participation in legislation, particularly health care issued directly related to the VA nurses on a local, state, and national level
  • Seek involvement from all RN’s at the Ralph H. Johnson and neighboring VA facilities and clinics
  • Provision of educational opportunities on a regular basis
  • Personal and professional satisfaction from volunteer opportunities


    *To be a fully recognized and participatory member at the local level you must be a member at the national level.
