Welcome to our website!

We are a chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America, Carolinas Region. Although we are based in Florence, South Carolina, we have members from all around the area including Bennettsville, Clio, Hartsville, McColl, Quinby, Rockingham (NC), and Sumter.

We are a friendly group of stitchers who gather to learn new techniques, share our knowledge, show off our projects, and just have a great time.

Come stitch with us!

The Who What When and Where

Membership . . . is open to all stitchers from beginner to advanced. Dues are $45.00 per year which covers local, regional, and national dues, and includes the Florence Area Chapter monthly newsletter "Chapter Snippets" and the quarterly EGA publication "Needle Arts". Guests are welcome, and are requested to become dues paying members after 2 visits.

Meetings . . . are held the third Tuesday of each month (except November and December) at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, corner of Marsh Avenue and Third Loop Road, Florence, SC at 7:30 P.M. (Handicap accessible .) We meet for dinner before the meetings at a local restaurant.

Regular activities . . . include a silent auction of member stitched Christmas ornaments in September to raise money to purchase items for the chapter's library and a holiday luncheon in December. We have show and tell at each meeting for completed stitching and stitched pieces that have been framed or finished into pillows, standups, stockings, etc. Each show and tell item gives the stitcher an entry in the prize drawings held at the holiday luncheon.

Programs . . . are presented at each meeting and usually consist of a stitching project that we work on together. Past programs have included scissors fobs, Christmas ornaments, EGA Heart of My Heart canvas project, and beaded bracelets. Participation in programs is optional and it's okay to bring a project from home to stitch during the meeting.

Workshops . . . are hosted by the Florence Area Chapter annually. The two day workshops are usually held in August and have included a finishing workshop with Pat Dugan and Victorian Needlecases with Cissy Smith.

Outreach . . . is a big part of EGA. Chapters use needle arts to raise community awareness about EGA, to help make our communities a better place, and to further the knowledge about needle arts. Outreach projects of the Florence Area Chapter have included hosting needlework exhibits at local libraries and preparing toiletry bags for local domestic abuse shelters.

Contact us . . . by using the form offered below. Messages are checked regularly.
