Mrs. Tena G. Ponteau is our new president for the 2010-2011 year. Mrs. Helen Deas, CEOE, honored us by installing our new officers for this year.

Mrs. Tena G. Ponteau, CEOE, GCAEOP President, 2010/2011 is our Office Professional of the Year 2010! Congratulations, Tena! Mrs. Earnestine Moultrie coordinated our second annual fashion show fundrasier for the month of February. Great Job!

Mrs. Bethany Giles-Burgess, Principal of Brown's Ferry Elementary School, was awarded Administrator of the Year 2010! Congratulations, Mrs. Burgess on a job well done! We are so proud of you!

Brown's Ferry Bengals

Mrs. Bethany Giles-Burgess, Principal of Brown's Ferry Elementary School, Georgetown, SC

Bethany Giles-Burgess is a lifelong resident of Andrews, SC and a proud product of the Georgetown County School District. She is a graduate of Andrews High School, S.C. State University (BS Elementary Education and Educational Specialist- Ed S), and The Citadel (Master Degree Educational Leadership). She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree at SC State University.

Before coming to Brown's Ferry, she served as assistant principal of Rosemary Middle School in Andrews, SC and Head Varsity Girls' Basketball Coach at Andrews High School. 2005-06 She was named Rosemary Middle School Teacher of the Year. She was named 2009 North/South All-Star Assistant Coach, 2004 HSSR Class AA State Coach of the Year, 2006 AA State Coach of the Year, and 4 time Region Coach of the Year.

She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, SC Educators Association, and South Carolina Association of School Administrators, and South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association, Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society and Kappa Delta Pi International Education Society. She is also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and hosts youth sports clinics/camps throughout the year. In addition, she is a musician for Ebenezer Missionary Baptist and Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Churches.

Mrs. Giles-Burgess is one who is very anxious to help the communities and schools. It has always been her goal to give to the youth what was so graciously given to her by family, former educators, and community members.
