About This Site:

My plan for this site is to make it "text-heavy". That is, the site exists to convey information about the philosophy and ministry of Gospel Reform and Covenant Evangelism.

I intend to keep graphics to a minimum. This should decrease download time and allow you to access information that interests you without wasting your time. If you find any typos or problems with grammar or syntax, please use the "contact us" option at the bottom right of this page to inform me.

May the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ use this site to His glory.

Gospel Reform And Covenant Evangelism

Gospel Reform And Covenant Evangelism (G.R.A.C.E.) is the name that I give to my personal ministry. It springs from the concept that true reform, whether personal, organizational or societal, can only come from the “new man” in Christ Jesus. The Gospel changes men at the core, which provides the foundation for change at other levels. To assist in the reform process, we preach the Gospel in a Covenant context.

God relates to His people in terms of His Covenant. When we evangelize, we bring people into a covenant relationship with God through Jesus Christ. That Covenant embraces all facets of human life. Therefore, the reform begun by the Gospel in a sinner’s heart continues as the new believer learns to live [by grace]in compliance with the Covenant.

What Is A Covenant?

The Children's catechism defines a covenant as "an agreement between two or more persons" (Q #22). This definition may serve the needs of very young children, but more mature minds will demand a more complete explanation. For without an understanding of the covenant concept, even the most astute student of Scripture will lack the key to a full and accurate view of the Bible. (This is not to say that covenantal knowledge is necessary to his salvation, but that such knowledge will help him more fully comprehend Scripture and apply it.)

Here I want to give you the most concise explanation of the covenant concept that I have run across: A covenant is a sacred pact. A covenant is a pact in that it formally binds the participants to a relationship with mutual obligations. Marriage can serve as a prime example here, because the bride and groom covenant together to establish the relationship(see Malachi 2:14).

The reason that the marriage pact binds a couple is the sacredness of that pact. The bride and groom stand before a clergyman -- God's representative -- who, on the basis of their vows (covenantal oaths), seals the pact in God's name by declaring them husband and wife. Either party who breaks the marriage pact must answer to God.

Marriage serves as a good Biblical example of covenants made between human beings, but it also gives us a clue to that greater covenant that God makes with His people. In fact...many places in Scripture refer to God's covenantal relationship with His people as marriage.
