PIEDMONT TECH STUDENT CHAPTER IN ACTION

PTC IAAP Students recruiting new members at the Club Fair. IAAP student members have been busy. They held a hot dog sale on campus on October 30 to help raise money to assist their members to attend the South Carolina Division IAAP meeting in the spring of 2009.

Collecting can food for the community.

For the last two weeks, the Administrative Office Technology (AOT) (formerly Office Systems Technology - OST) students brought canned goods to donate to the Food Bank of Greenwood County. Students received one point of extra credit for every canned good brought - up to 10 cans. They filled two large trash receptacles, the contents of which were delivered to the Food Bank by AOT faculty member and Food Bank volunteer, Mary Lou Wilson. Additional donations were being accepted until the Thanksgiving Break.

IN THE NEWS

14.NOV.08 The International Association of Administrative Professionals® (IAAP®), the leading association for administrative support staff, has notified Tiffany Albert CPS of Greenwood, SC that she has added the coveted Certified Administrative ProfessionalÒ (CAPÒ) rating to her professional certifications. Earning this advanced professional designation required that Ms. Albert pass an examination testing her knowledge of Organizational Planning. Ms. Albert had previously achieved the Certified Professional Secretary® (CPS®) rating, through an examination of her knowledge of Office systems & Technology, Office Administration, and Management. Since its inception in May 2001, only about 3,800 individuals have attained the CAP rating worldwide. In order to maintain her certifications, Ms. Albert is required to provide documentation of a specific volume of continuing education and professional development every five years. As an administrative professional for almost 15 years, Ms. Albert is a member of the Emerald Chapter of IAAP, where she currently serves as Chapter Secretary. Ms. Albert said her current personal obligations prevented her from continuing her education, so she saw professional certifications as a next logical step to enhance her credibility for future advancement. Formerly working in banking, since 2000 Ms. Albert has been employed by the City of Greenwood as Executive Secretary to the City Manager and Mayor. She serves her community by volunteering for Festival of Discovery and Festival of Flowers, and also teaches in the Sunday School and Marriage Ministry at her church. - GwdToday.com "Lakeland's fastest - most dependable news".
