Communicate with Confidence
Jennifer Scarberry AAI, CISR, ACSR, CPIW, DAE, Charleston Association of Insurance Professionals, won the Insurance Professionals of South Carolina’s Communicate with Confidence Speak-Off Competition, at the organization’s annual meeting on Saturday, September 20, 2008.
The Communicate with Confidence course is designed to develop and enhance the communication skills of the participants. The program, developed by the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW) International, is the organization’s most prestigious and popular development program. Participants in the course have an opportunity to develop their stage presence, thought organization, and presentation methods through which they can enhance their abilities in their chosen career and in NAIW.
Jennifer went on to win at the regional level at the Region III Conference in April 2008 in Charleston, SC. Our rising star then took the competition by storm and won at NAIW National Convention in May 2008 in New Orleans.
Johnson & Johnson, Inc., Manager, CMGA of Charleston, SC, sponsored the state level speak-off, for the eleventh straight year. Additionally, Johnson & Johnson sponsored the state winner to the regional contest for the twelfth straight year.
Insurance Professional of the Year
Roxanne Peden CIC, ACSR, CISR, CPIW was named Insurance Professional of the Year for the Insurance Professionals of South Carolina, an affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW) at the 2008 Council Meeting.
The Insurance Professional of the Year award recognizes excellence among those who have been employed in the insurance industry a minimum of ten years, according to NAIW, which sponsors the regional and national levels of the award. Among the criteria considered in conferring the award is the candidate’s participation in association activities, involvement in insurance industry education programs, industry experience and current professional capacity, activities undertaken in the community and response to an industry related essay question.
Roxanne will go on to compete at the regional level. The nine regional winners compete at the national level, with the National Insurance Professional of the Year awarded $1,000 at the NAIW National Convention held each June.
NAIW is an association of nearly 13,000 insurance professionals dedicated to the development of leaders in the insurance industry. The national organization has 320 local affiliates throughout the U.S. and nine countries, with headquarters in Tulsa, Okla.
