What is the International Association of Administrative Professionals?
The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) is a not-for-profit professional association with approximately 40,000 members and affiliates and nearly 600 chapters worldwide.
IAAP works in partnership with employers to promote professional excellence.
IAAP Mission, Objectives, Purpose, Vision and Core Values: the IAAP mission is to be the acknowledged, recognized leader of administrative professionals and to enhance their individual and collective value, image, competence, and influence.
IAAP's purpose is to provide information, education, and training and to set standards of excellence recognized by the business community on a global perspective.
IAAP's objectives are to elevate the standards of all administrative professionals and to promote their working relationships with management through continuing education, authorized programs, and publications.
IAAP's vision is to inspire and equip all administrative professionals to attain excellence.
2008-2009 Chapter Officers
The Moncks Corner Chapter of the International Administrative Professionals conducted a community-wide search to solicit nominations for the Administrative Professional who commit themselves to Excellence in Action.
This award recognized the Administrative Professional for outstanding job performance and dedication to their profession at one of the local business/industry in Berkeley County. The award was presented on March 17, 2009. The selection panel used a ranking system to help determine the award recipient. All individual rankings were tabulated to determine the top nominees.
The Nominees were: Stephanie Dukes-Administrative Associate, Santee Cooper; Annette Hammond-Program Assistant, SC Employment Commission; Nancy Morris-Switchboard Operator, Santee Cooper; Gloria Whitten, Secretary to the Berkeley County Supervisor, Berkeley County Government.
The chapter awarded Gloria Whitten the Excellence in Action Award. Her letter of recommendation was outstanding. She is a great Secretary and is valued by Berkeley County Government. She received a plaque and was recognized in the April 15th edition of our local newspaper the Berkeley Independent. Congratulations Gloria.

This year, our SCD President, Jannette Stokes and President Elect, Dolline Tucker visited our chapter. They shared with us the importance of retaining chapter members and recruiting new members. We need to keep working hard so we can have another successful year.

Proclamation Day for Administrative Week
On Friday, April 17, 2009, Mayor Peagler, Town of Moncks Corner, signed a Proclamation observing April 19 to 25 as Administrative Professionals Week. What a great accomplishment for the Moncks Corner Chapter.
Administrative Day Celebration, April 22, 2009
The chapter celebrated Administrative Professionals Day on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at The New Berkeley Restaurant, 401 Barony Street, Moncks Corner, SC. 6:30 P.M. Speaker was Andra Ladson, Berkeley County School District Financials Services Department. The 2009 scholarship recipient was Britnee Alexandria Smalls- Cross High School. The member of the year award was presented to our President, Queen Mack.

2009 SCD Annual Meeting - May 15-16, 2009
The annual meeting was held at the Marriott Spartanburg at Renaissance Park; 299 North Church Street Spartanburg, South Carolina. The chapter won the award for First Place - Table Decoration, Friday Night, May 15, 2009. The chapter was well represented and received honorable mention for the Chapter of Excellence Award. The 2010 SCD Annual Meeting will be held in Columbia, SC.

Professional Development Seminar, Tuesday, June 16, 2009
Please join us for our Professional Development Seminar on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 6:30 pm, Santee Cooper Auditorium, One Riverwood Drive, Moncks Corner, SC featuring Kara Finch, OfficeTeam Division Director.
Kara Kinch is the Division Director of Officeteam in Charleston and has been with the company for over four years. OfficeTeam’s specialization is the recruitment and placement of administrative professionals on a temporary and temporary to hire basis. They have worked with numerous employers in the Charleston area. Their presentations are developed from feedback resulting from surveys given to clients and candidates that they work with nationally. Prior to joining Officeteam, Ms. Finch worked as and administrative/accounting professional in Greenville after graduating from Clemson University.

Membership
IAAP annual membership dues amounts vary, depending on membership category (Professional or Student) and whether an individual chooses to join a local chapter and regional division.
For a Professional member, there is a one-time processing fee of $15 (U.S.) and annual dues of $53 (U.S.), for a total of $68 (U.S.).
For a Student member, there is no processing fee, only annual dues of $22 (U.S.).
If an individual wants to join a local chapter, chapter and division dues are additional and those dues vary depending on which division/chapter you join.
