    The Lieutenant Governor of the Northwest Territories was, prior to 1905, the Lieutenant Governor of present day Saskatchewan, Alberta, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and part of Manitoba. In 1905 Saskatchewan & Alberta became separate provinces and in 1999 Nunavut became a separate territory. The Canadian Government's representative is the Commissioner. The Commissioner does not represent the Sovereign.
