 Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways you can become involved in your school: before school, after school, sending in things we need for different events, or just making calls. Lots of different ways but each one so important to supporting the school, students, and staff. Below are a number of different events/activities that are coming up where the PTO could use your support. Email us or call if you are interested in helping out. WE'RE ONLY AS GOOD AS OUR MEMBERS!
RAY'S TUTORING SNACKS Twice a week beginning the week of November 5th Students are given help in different subjects twice weekly. The program starts at 3:30 so students don't have time to find something to eat. Many won't have eaten since 11:15am and they are all very hungry. The PTO provides a small and nutritious snack to help these students as they attempt to improve their scholastic performance. The mini water bottles or 100% juice boxes are the preferred beverage. Individual portion snacks such as pretzels, granola bars, popcorn, or other nutritious type things are perfect snacks. We will not know the exact number of students involved until the program begins. If you would like to support these students you can either send/bring your donation to the school marked: "Attn: Mrs. McGinnis-Ray's Tutoring" or contact us if you would prefer to provide the snack for a specific date (if you want to bring in a perishable item, like apples). Either way, please let us know if you want to participate with this program so we can be sure we have enough for every participant, every session. ALPHA/BETA CELEBRATION OF SUCCESS To celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of all the students who achieved Alpha or Beta status on their report card, the PTO hosts a "Make Your Own Sundae" event. We need donations for the sundae supplies and people to dish up and serve the ice cream.
RAY DAY This is the annual School-wide Field Day event. It will take place the morning of Friday, May 30th. There will be three separate areas of activities for the students. Each grade will take turns rotating through each of the areas. The PTO sponsors one of these areas - and it is a favorite with the students. We have a bunch of inflatable activities for the students to participate in and will give them some sort of snack and beverage. We need sponsors to help pay for the different activities (The High School Athletic Booster Club is going to sponsor a popcorn cart!) All activities and the treats are free to all students EXCEPT if they want to pay to have a chance to dunk a staff member in the dunk tank or have a chance to throw a pie at a teacher's face. We need lots of volunteers for the day of the event to man the different venues. We also need a Volunteer Coordinator to keep track of who has volunteered, assign them an area, contact all volunteers to remind them of the day and time, and then to check in the volunteers the morning of the event.
8th GRADE SEND OFF DANCE The PTO will be helping the Student Government with decorating the cafeteria the day before the dance. We need parent volunteers to come after school on Friday, May 30th to decorate (bring ladders and extension cords), set up tables, and arrange the food trays. It should be a fun day and will mean a great deal to our graduating class.
STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK On Tuesday, May 6th the PTO will host a "potluck" luncheon and on Thursday, May 8th we will host a breakfast for all staff members. For each event we are asking parents to send in a dish, beverage, or paper product. Diane Barenberg will be Chairing the luncheon and CiCi Ault will be Chairing the breakfast. These two events were a huge success last year, the staff loved them!
