About Cub Scout Pack 154

Cub Scout Pack 154 offers its Scouts and their families a year round program of activities, including hiking, camping, games, crafts, field trips, and community service activities. Annual highlights include camping at Camp Old Indian (the BSA camp located north of Travelers Rest, SC), the Greenwood Christmas parade, the Pinewood Derby, and the Spring Camping Trip. At weekly Den Meetings, the Scouts work on projects and activities to help them earn their badges of rank and other advancements. At monthly Pack meetings, all of the Dens meet together for awards, skits, and songs.

With help from their leaders and family members, our Scouts "Do a Good Turn" for our community several times a year. We conduct community service projects for Pinecrest Elementary School, The Ashley House (assisted living center), the Greenwood Food Pantry ("Scouting For Food") and litter pickups.

What is Cub Scouting?

In 1910, the Boy Scouts of America was founded. Twenty years later, in 1930, Cub Scouts began as a way to get younger boys involved in Scouting. Today, it is the largest of the BSA's three divisions (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing). Cub Scouting is a year round program for boys in the first to fifth grades (or ages 7-10). Parents and leaders work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting.

 The Purposes of Cub Scouting

The Ten Purposes of Cub Scouting:

  1. Character Development
  2. Spiritual Growth
  3. Good Citizenship
  4. Sportsmanship and Fitness
  5. Family Understanding
  6. Respectful Relationships
  7. Personal Achievment
  8. Friendly Service
  9. Fun and Adventure
  10. Preparation for Boy Scouting

Meeting Information

Pack 154 meets at Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 2330 Cokesbury Road (State Route 254) in Greenwood, less than a mile north of Greenwood High School.

Meetings are held Monday nights (except for Monday holidays) at 7:00 pm during the school year. Weekly Den meetings are held in the downstairs classrooms (or outside if appropriate for the activities and the weather). Monthly Pack meetings and special events (like the Pinewood Derby) are held in the Fellowship Hall upstairs.

Parents are encouraged to attend and assist with Den meetings, and families are invited to attend the monthly Pack meetings, where the Scouts are recognized for their achievments.
