Goals of the Palmetto Gourd Patch

Welcome to the Palmetto Gourd Patch

The Palmetto Gourd Patch was established so we can share our love of gourds. Promoting the growing of gourds, sharing the love of gourd art, and letting everyone know how to safely work with gourds - that is our purpose. Come and join us. We readily share our talents and abilities with each other and we have FUN!

Happy New Year!!

Our meetings are at Creative Hands Artisan Center at 10 AM
107 Hwy 29 - Lyman, SC 29365

Marianne Barnes and Peggy Ash sent ornaments to the Columbia Governor's Mansion to hang on the Governor's tree. Picture of one of Marianne's ornaments can be seen above. Go to the SC Gourd Society web site to see the article and more pictures.

We had a wonderful January meeting. We sanded our gourds and made them shine. Peggy Ash showed us various ways to finish the inside of the gourd.

February:

Beaded Rim Gourd - Materials needed - gourd we prepared in January or a gourd bowl if you did not attend the January meeting, dremel to drill holes, glass or stone nuggets with holes ( Peggy will send in an order to Fire Mountain if you let her know what you want by january 9-we can get a bigger discount the more that is ordered. Go to www.firemountain.com and look up chipstone strands or glass chip strands - you will need at least 3 - 32 inch or 2 - 36 inch or 4 - 24 or 26 inch strands - unless you have a small gourd and you will need less - you can also get the stones at Michaels or Beads Galore (on Pleasantburg across from Bob Jones University, but they cost more)), wire (Peggy and Marianne will have wire.)See the picture below.

Beaded Sanded Gourd. We will not do the dream catcher
