"Club drugs" refer to a wide variety of drugs that are often used at parties called "raves".

Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), commonly called "Ecstasy" can act like both a stimulant and hallucinogen. It can cause an enhancement of experiences of music/lights/dancing and a strong stimulant effect (increase of energy to dance longer). Some slang terms are: E, X, and XTC. Ecstasy is taken orally by either a tablet or capsule. The effects can last 3 to 6 hours. However, confusion, depression, sleep problems, anxiety and paranoia can last for several weeks.

Gamma Hydroxybutrate, commonly called "GHB" is a depressant that can cause drowsiness, unconsciousness, or breathing problems. This drug is often used as a "date rape" drug. It is usually available as an odorless, colorless, and nearly tastless liquid. Sometimes GHB is available as a powder, or in a capsule. At small doses, GHB, encourages a reduction of social inhibitions, and an increased libido. Symptoms of use include vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, vertigo and seizures. After excessive use, some users have experienced loss of consciousness, irregular and depressed respiration, tremors and coma. Slang terms include: Liquid Ecstasy, Liquid X, Grievous Bodily Harm and Georgia Home Boy.

Flunitrazepam, commonly called Rohypnol is a benzodiazepine (central nervous system depressant) like Valium, yet 10 times more potent. Rohypnol is available in pill form and is usually sold in the manufacturer's (Hoffman-LaRoche) bubble packaging. This can cause some to believe that it is a safe drug because it appears to be unadulterated or legal. Rohypnol is taken orally, snorted or injected. The drug is taken with alcohol or marijuana to enhance intoxication. Slang terms include: Rophies (sometimes spelled roofies), R2's, Mexican Valium, Rib, Rope, and Roach. It is often refered to as the "Forget Pill" or "Forget Me Pill" because of its anterograde amensia type effect on the person.
